Strong hop and light malt aroma. Clear amber color with a small white head. Light bitter beginning that quickly fades to a slight sweet malt finish with a mildly creamy palate.

A nice, heavy, seasonal, Amber. This Ale is probably something of a vagrants holiday dream here in the North-West. High alcohol content, and a decent price.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at MarCellars. This one is from last winter and aged pretty well in the keg. Aromas of caramel, dusty grain, spicy floral and citrus hops. Taste is a nice blend of the same flavors, with some toasted nut as well. Still pretty hoppy even with the age. Medium body is well-balanced. sticky but smooth and drinikable, and has medium carbonation.

354ml/12oz bottle with dinner at Mor mor bistro and bar; Paulsbo. Being Norwegian, visiting a place called mor mor (grandmother) in a place called Paulsbo, which is like cut out from a Norwegian Fairytale, a cold December day you are destined to choose the beer called Brrr. Amber coloured body, with a white head- like snow. The aroma was like Christmas cakes: caramel, pine and some citrus. I thought I smelled cinnamon to, but maybe it was me being influenced by the mood and the atmosphere? Hoppy, with hints of tangerine and caramel. I want to go home for Christmas- SKÅL! (13.Dec. 2008)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer pours a reddish-amber color with a white head. The aroma is caramel and biscuit malt with a little bit of piney hops mixed in. A very nice aroma overall. The flavor is heavier on the hops than I expected. I get a lot of pine as well as some caramel malt. Low bitterness and very drinkable. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A nice take on a winter warmer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours golden/amber. Medium head. Flavor is bitter, with pine coming through and a bit of floral notes. Caramel and malts are also present. A lot like an IPA but a little maltier as expected with a winter beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle.Hazy orange amber, long lasting beige head. Nice citrusy hop aroma, tangerine peel, underlying caramel. A decently hoppy amber with a satisfying malt body, in the same tradition as Rogue American, Stone Levitation, and Brewdog 5 a.m. Saint, but not as big or as bold as any of them. Still a great session brew, and one that continues to redefine my definition of and expectation of an amber ale.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2011 Weird yellowy green head but the beer itself is a lovely red colour. A very dusty and dry English hoppy nose. Strong, fruity yeast dominates the flavour. It’s kinda funky. Very smooth but the flavour is unsettling in a ’past it’ kinda way.
I think I liked this better on the 2011 batch. A little warmer and more roasty than I remember it.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Malt sweetness with faint floral, lemon aroma. A deep copper pour with small white head. Bready malt flavor that is low on hop flavor and bitterness. Medium-heavy mouthfeel. Alcohol warms the finish. A drinkable red, but lacking on hop flavor to balance properly.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I was surprised to see such a high rated and good sounding Widmer beer. I was expecting Mac and Jacks but didn’t get it. This is still quite good. I can’t pull much off the aroma, but the flavor is well bananced biscuity sweetness and lingering bitterness. I found this kind of out of season, but I’m happy that I did. Next season I’ll be more aware.
