UPDATED: OCT 26, 2011 Weird yellowy green head but the beer itself is a lovely red colour. A very dusty and dry English hoppy nose. Strong, fruity yeast dominates the flavour. Itís kinda funky. Very smooth but the flavour is unsettling in a ípast ití kinda way. I think I liked this better on the 2011 batch. A little warmer and more roasty than I remember it.

Malt sweetness with faint floral, lemon aroma. A deep copper pour with small white head. Bready malt flavor that is low on hop flavor and bitterness. Medium-heavy mouthfeel. Alcohol warms the finish. A drinkable red, but lacking on hop flavor to balance properly.

I was surprised to see such a high rated and good sounding Widmer beer. I was expecting Mac and Jacks but didnít get it. This is still quite good. I canít pull much off the aroma, but the flavor is well bananced biscuity sweetness and lingering bitterness. I found this kind of out of season, but Iím happy that I did. Next season Iíll be more aware.

A: The beer pours amber in color, maybe copper, with a thin layer of soapy off-white head. S: Smells quite hoppy, which I wasnít expecting. Quite a bit of citrus, plenty of floral hops as well. The other bit of the nose is made up of bread and toffee, maybe a bit of brown sugar. T: A moderate level of pine and bitterness. Floral and citrus hops on top of the bread and toffee. A touch of fruit, maybe some peaches, and a bit of brown sugar and toasted malts. M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation. D: I was surprised by this. Usually I donít have very high expectations of Widmer beers, but this was pretty solid.

Pours a very clear orange amber. thick white head. Aroma is very strong of brown sugar, cinnamon, spices, and hops. good lacing. medium bodied with sugary sweet syrupy mouth feel. Nice dry finishing hop helps balance the sweetness of this beer. better than I expected and a good reasonably priced winter/spiced beer.

04-May-09 (12-oz bottle, Bottled on 18-Nov-08: Purchased at BevMo in Solana Beach) This is a pleasant, flavorful winter brew. Itís malty, medium sweet, caramely, fruity, figgy, somewhat toasty and balanced by moderately bitter, floral and piney hops. The bitterness starts out pretty easy, but builds over several sips to take up permanent residence on the tongue without becoming overbearing. The nose is toasty, grainy and floral, but unfortunately, a bit cheesy too. Medium-full bodied on the palate with no thinning in the finish. Carbonation is moderate. The hoppy bitterness is fairly crisp on the palate, but the malt body sticks with you. Amber in color, fairly clear in appearance, and capped by a quarter-inch, off-white head that shows significant contrast with the darker body. Head retention is average, fading to a ring. Overall, pleasant enough to drink a few each winter, but probably wouldnít be on my radar for six-pack purchases.

23-Apr-06 (12-oz bottle, Bottled on 23-Feb-06: Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA) I was expecting more mediocrity from Widmer with their new Wí06 seasonal, but the immediate burst of sweet orange citrus and grapefruit aromas are a really nice introduction to this beer. Taking my first sip, what I notice first is the wonderful balance. Very flavorful, plenty of bright, citrusy hops and bitterness, balanced by lots of sweet, caramel maltiness. Mild vegetal character from the hops, and that shows up in the nose after awhile too. It has that pleasant chalkiness in the flavor and mouthfeel that I enjoy. Medium-full in body, a coating mouthfeel, semi-dry and crisp finish, well-carbonated. Slow-to-form head is off-white in color and short-lived, subsiding to a filmy layer, yet the head leaves a ring of lace near the top of the glass with vertical streaks hanging down. To me, this is one of the finest Widmer products Iíve had in a bottle ever. Not mind-blowing or anything, but a very solid, well-constructed and tasty offering from the Bros. Donít skip this one because itís a Widmer product. (7, 4, 7, 4, 15 = 3.7)

Sampled from a six pack. A nice amber. Really well flavored. A nice winter brew but could go for most of the year. Well made brew.

Thanks to my Secret Santa for this one!Brownish copper, thin but dense beige head. Kind of citrusy aroma - Citrus in the flavor at first, with some spicy notes, as well. Pretty good, actually - some pine, some floral notes, too., with some vague, undefined spiciness in the finish.

Pours a red/gold with minimal foam. Smells hoppier han it tastes. Tastes lightly sweet with light hops and a strange bitter flavor I canít define.
