bottle. Pours clear orange ruby color with slightly yellow / creme colored head. Aroma is lightly hoppy, pine / spruce, with some biscuit / toast malt notes. Flavor is nice and balanced, and malt profile more prominent here than in aroma, caramel, biscuit, with a subtle hop bitterness on the finish. Nice. Iíll say it reminds me alot of new belgiumís 2 below though, somewhere in between a malty APA and an english strong ale.

Clear amber with off white head that laces nicely. Complex aroma of floral hops, hay, caramel malt, and grapefruit. Taste is a little sweet and a little bitter at the finish. Medium bodied. Quite a nice beer.

12 oz bottle from Thriftway - Very nice citrus hops aroma. Very sweet flavor, and not grainy like a lot of ambers. A bit oily on the palate, but it works for this beer. Mmmm. Brrr.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep mahogany color with heavy hops aroma and a hint of nutty malt. Tastes like a toned down IPA, but the bitterness is still there, finish is very nutty/earthy, unlike anything Iíve had before. Light/medium bodied and noticeable carbonation. Doesnít seem like this beer should be a winter seasonal considering how bitter it is, wish rb had an IBU rating on this guy.

Pours clear ruby amber with a foamy beige head. Aroma toffee, floral and citrus hops, lots of pineapple and grapefruit. Taste is nice, there is a good amount of sweet malt and sweet and bitter hop flavors. Lots of flavor. Medium body, full carbonation.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 12, 2010 Draught. Very pleasant hop filled aroma on this one. One of the thickest lacing heads that I have ever seen. Fairly bitter taste throughout that seemed a bit unbalanced, especially for the usually tame amber ale style. Pretty decent seasonal if not at all what I was expecting from a widmer seasonal.
EDIT: After having enjoyed quite a lot of this the last few months It is definitely the best winter seasonal that I have had this year. It is also in my opinion mis-characterized as an amber ale.

12oz bottle -
Review from old notes:
Aroma is light biscuity/doughy malts, nice grapefruit hop...slight honey too. Flavor has a nice grapefruit snap to it, cereal-like malts with a really light toasted grain note. Mouthfeel slightly tingly with a nice smooth finish.
