Give the gift of beer! More specifically, Brrr! The Widmer Brothers have handcrafted a special ale for the holiday season: a generous red ale. Not quite excessively hopped, with candy sweetness and a velvety finish. Perfect for celebrations. Prost!

Pours amber with a fully receding off-white head. Notes of toffee, caramelized wort, orange peel. Full bodied, sweet, soft carbonation.

Widmer Brothers Brrr Seasonal Ale is a very clear, sparkling copper ale topped with a dense, light beige foam that has outstanding retention and lacing. It has a rich pine aroma with sweet caramel in the nose. Itís pretty full bodied, very smooth and foamy. The finish is clean and nimble. It tastes pretty bitter and a little sweet. The balance is really nice. Pine resin is the loudest flavor. The bitterness turns to something more like juniper by the time the caramel sweetness emerges just after the swallow. This one kind of took me by surprise. Itís a pretty serious beer and itís really easy to drink.

Poured into a pint glass. Deep amber color with almost a finger of dirty white head. Rich smelling: caramel, lemon zest and grapefruit. Equally rich tasting: malty beginning followed by a quick bite of bitterness, ending with a glowing balance of the two. Citrus really kicks in in the middle and holds its own. Soft texture, medium bodied and low carbonation. Fits perfectly in the beer. A really solid beer and very enjoyable.

Bottle. Bready caramel malt aroma. Clear orange amber with a small beige head. Slightly charred toast, caramel malt flavor with a light spicy/piney hop finish. Medium body with a slight alcohol warmth.

This is a very good amber ale. Amber color of course, and low carbonation. Flavor has light malt and sweet caramel. Flavor is a balance of sweet caramel and citrus hops, giving this a sort of barleywine character, if not as strong.

On tap at the Brass Tap, poured an amber color with aromas of caramel, nuts, earth, and some malt. Flavors of caramel, earth, booze, and some feint fruit. Interesting beer, nice winter seasonal overall.

Pours an amber color with some thin hoops. Smells of cardboard and hops. Taste is okay. Nothing special.

Clear reddish amber with one inch of white head that had decent retention. Moderate amount of sticky lacing is left on the glass surface. Strong aroma of hops. Citrus and pine dominate. Caramel malt is pretty strong and sweet. A faint hint of alcohol in the end as well.

Bad day. Found beer. Drank beer. Good beer. Day better. Out of beer. Day back to the way it was. Good beer but not enough in the bottle.

I had this on draft at Out of the Park Pizza in Anaheim Hills, CA. Iím in the minority on this one: I didnít care for it. There was some other flavors along with the hops that just didnít taste good to me.
