Bottle and tap. Pours copper with a decent head. Nice aromas of malts and chocolate as well as strawberries. Flavors are complex, with hints of caramel, hops and fruit. Really like this beer.

Pours a clear, rusty amber/brown color with a slightly off-white, small, slightly fizzy head that lasts. Very hoppy nose, mostly citrusy grapefruit, but with light bready caramel. Hops dominate, but not overly so as with IPA’s. Cirtusy, and mildly earthy with the malt flavors sitting in the background ready to really emerge but they never do. Notes of caramel, yeast and nuts. Palate is medium bodied, with a good amount of carbonation and a very smooth feeling, almost creamy. Finish is subtle and not abrupt with the malt actually making more of a statement as it dries out. IPA does not do justice to the interesting character of the beer, more full and sweet flavor than most IPA’s. Good and definately worth a try even for non-IPA drinkers, like myself.

Clear, toffee pour with nice head that dissipates from frothy to thin quickly. Beautiful lacing. Nice hoppy initial aroma with hints of grapefruit and pine. Slightly spiced flavor but not overly so for a seasonal. Nice hop/malt balance as glass warms. Not overly complex. Little bit of alcohol bite at end if not finished quickly. I like it better than most other seasonal ales from regional brewers.

12oz bottle. This beer pours a rich red copper. Reasonable head that melts to a consistent thin covering over the top of the beer. Some lacing, but not alot. The nose is spiced flowers. Very nice hoppy smell, expectation is that this will be an over-hopped holiday beer. Then the taste. What a balance. Expectation is IPA level hops, but the taste brings in the smooth sweet malts. Hops are noticible, but not overbearing. The mouthfeel is nice, full, smooth. Palate is balanced and the finish is smooth. This beer gets MORE flavorful as it approaches room temperature. And the slightly elevated ABV makes this a truly good winter evening brew. Well done W. Bros.

12 oz bottle- Pours deep amber with a decent head, aroma is of resinous sweet hops, very pleasing. It has a sweet candy flavor to it, but doesn’t over do it. I can’t believe I am saying this but I am a fan of Widmer, compared to the other craft brewery that Budweiser has acquired (Red Hook) this brewery wins hands down every time.

Sample from 12 oz bottle. Aroma of piney hopsl. Smells extremely hoppy for an amber ale. Pours amber with a medium head, beautiful lacing. Taste is woody. Starts a little sweet, finishes bitter, cheesy (!!!). Tastes more like a pale than an amber but I suppose labels aren’t important.
