The Columbia Hop was near extinction when we brought it back to create this crisp, easy drinking common ale. With a rich amber hue, Columbia Common, the new Spring Seasonal Release for 2013, has a Mild grassy and spicy hop notes are complemented by a fruity character and clean finish brought on by the use of hefeweizen and lager yeasts and unique malt bill. It’s the perfect beer for Spring. Prost!

There was a nice hiss when i opened the bottle followed by a good amount of smoke. The beer pours a clear amber color with a small off white head that left some lacing around the glass. The aroma is caramel and some grassy/earthy hop notes as well. The taste is rather unique. The flavor is is a somewhat bitter sweet caramel and breadiness but on the back-end it is very grassy. The hops of very earthy. I don’t pick up much of the fruit in this beer however.

Slight haze on a yellow brown beer. Fairly mild initial impressions on the buds, much friendlier than I was expecting. Yes, some bitterness in there but overall a very smooth beer. As the session continues, it does get a little mild bitter building sensation on the back sides of th tongue but its never over the top. Yes, overall found this to be a better than average beer.

12oz bottle - Aroma - a delicate bouquet?? LOL...Aroma is light malt, table sugar sweetness and a touch of earthy bitterness Appearance - clear amber body, creamy white 2-finger head, nice retetion, decent lacing Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, light mouthfeel Flavor - slightly metallic tasting, more plain table sugar, earthy/woody bitterness Overall - quaffable and sessionable, yep and yep. Barely average though, so worth it if it’s on sale. Decent.

Bottle poured a clear amber with a small lingering ivory head. Aromas of caramel, earthiness and toasted malt. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth dry finish. Flavors of caramel, toasted malt and light earthiness with a smooth dry lingering caramel finish.

"Aroma and flavor a light pleasant mix of cereal and grassy hops. Delicate bouquet, maybe a little toast. Good job on the style though probably not good enough to go back to."

Transfer from BA review on 4-12-12- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a clear amber color with a one finger off white head that has a moderate level of persistence. The head fades after a few minutes of time to leave a lighter level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is a mix of a more grainy smells with some lighter roasted malt and bready smells. With these aromas are some lighter notes of a more citrus and floral hop smell mixed with the lightest amount of a caramel sweetness. Taste – The taste begins with a more bready flavor mixed with some caramel sweetness. There is a little bit of a roasted malt flavors come more toward the middle of the taste along with some hop of a more grapefruit citrus variety. At the end, more hop flavors come to the tongue, this time of a more grassy flavor, which in the end leave a lightly hopped and crisper malty flavor to be left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium to slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. Both are rather nice for making a crisp and rather easy drinking brew as this one is meant to be. Overall – While not a flavorful powerhouse, it does have a nice easy drinking and refreshing taste with just enough complexity to not be boring, but not too much too take away from its more session like (at 4.7 % abv) and easy drinking qualities.

12 oz bottle on lake Murray The ale poured a clear light amber with average off-white head. This was an ale with full flavor of malt with some spice. The medium body ale had average carbonation. The ale finished with a slight sweetness. This was a nice Spring Ale for the river or lake.

Aroma is grass,fruit... Very lagery. Quite tame. Flavor is floral, lightly spicy, uninteresting. Boring_ and not something I’d drink again.
