COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced. 2006 GABF Silver Medal Winner

This is a wonderfully fruity beer with summit hops that embrace taste buds. I’d like to write more on this beer, but I’d rather just drink it…

Bottle poured a clear copper with a minimal amber head. Aromas of citrus, carmel and light pine. Palate was light bodied and crisp.Flavors of carmel and light citrus with a moderatly bitter finish. This beer smells MUCH better than it tastes!

Bottled. Clear, golden, topped by a small beige head. The aroma starts with something reminiscent of cats pee, but is very soon replaced by peach, lots of grapefruit and some malt. It has a nice, but a bit one-dimentional flavor with lots of grapefruity bitterness. Medium body and a long, but weak finish. Even though it has a bit strange nose and a one-dimentional flavor I liked it. (070302)

12 oz. bottle. Clear, red/amber color. Decent head, but short-lived. Well-considered mix of hops pleases the nose and the taste buds. The citrus tang complements the sweetness of the malt rather nicely, I really liked the W06, but this is very nearly as good. Widmer is not among my usual rotation, but I find myself looking forward to these late winter seasonals.

Picked this one up for fishing tomorrow, but I couldn’t resist cracking one open tonight. Pours copper with a small head that dissolved quickly. Aroma is mellow citrus and very inviting. Nice pine hop flavor with an expectedly bitter finish. Real nice. I’ll enjoy it tomorrow, and look for it again next year.

Reddish amber pour with medium foamy head, nice aroma of sweet malt & citrus piney hops. Caramel malt presence is high, hop flavors are fruity and aromatic citrus. A very enjoyable APA, glad I bought a sixer.

Thanks to KenB for this one as part of Mystery Swap 2.0. Pours hazy deep ruby with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of big fruity hops, caramel malt, mango, star fruit. Tastes caramel malty, with notes of hops and fruits, such as mango, pear, and tangerine. Decent complexity.

Light amber in color with very small whtie head. Big nose of pine and citrus. Flavor is much the same, hops all over the place, then it washes into a light texture that almost gets watery. Finish is bitter which is to be expected.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a small frothy off-white head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (cookie, caramel), heavy hops (spruce, citrus, grapefruit), average yeast (dough, sweat) with notes of peach. Medium bodied, slick texture, average carbonation and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
