Commercial Description:
With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced. 2006 GABF Silver Medal Winner

Draft. Pours a deep copper with a decent head and plenty of lacing on the glass. The aroma is pretty decent. Citrus, pine. The flavor was better than expected Good citrusy hop flavor, thin malt backbone. I liked this one a lot more than I thought I would.

Pleasant piney aroma with slight sweetness. Deep amber color. Filmy head which hung on the glass. Pleasant hoppy bitterness like an APA should have. Solid offering. Nicely carbonated. I would definitely recommend.

Full of kiwi and sticky tropical fruits. Pineapple is super apparent in both the aroma and flavour. Extremely bitterin the finish which makes the Tongue tighten up quite a lot. Quite excitingly fruity with a light maltiness backing it up. Pretty sickly all the way through.

Draft sample at the 13th Annual Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. Amber in the glass with an off-white head that settle to a ring and left light lace. Nice pine aromas with a hint of a malt background. The flavor also had lots of pine with an orange backing. Medium body and medium bitterness. Nice surprise!

Tap at a local sports pub, good to see Widmer on tap in Florida. Pours a nice light brownish amber. Strikingly nice hop aroma, lots of citrus. Nice has a nice malt body with much more hop bitterness than I expected for a Pale Ale. Good stuff, for my local crappy sports bar.

On tap at Blarney Stone in SD. Clear copper orange with a two finger sea foam head, slowly fading and coating the glass. Lots of fresh floral and grapefruit hops in the nose with light biscuity malts. Flavor continues win not a lot of malt presence. Dry finish, bitterness a 3. Thin body with light to moderate carbonation. One of Widmer’s better offerings.

This is a great summer beer. A cross between a wit and a pale with some really nice spices mixed in. An enjoyable beer for the pro and a great introductory beer.

12 oz bottle. Nice hoppy nose--grapefruit, pine. Pours copper with watery lacing. Taste is moderately bitter at first; finishes even more bitter. Medium bodied. Overall a pretty good APA, but there’s better out there.

Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. Nice floral citric hoppy aroma with some lighter malty notes. Light floral and citric hop notes in the flavor with some well balanced sweet malts. Pretty good.
