COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced. 2006 GABF Silver Medal Winner

Notes for me: Grapefruit aroma. Great thick palate. Taste is a little on the wangy side. Nice lacing.

From the archives: Had this in Miami. From the pub, on the high street. Decent APA. I thought it was much weaker than 5.7%

Bottled 17MAY12 Amber with an etched white surface and excellent clarity. No lace. Smells herbal with a slight resin character and a bit of canned spinach alongside the crystal malt which is sweet but not overplayed. Slightly bitter with a good moderated malt through the center and a fine overall pale character. Nice and limited body with slightly low carb and an off dry finish. Nice beer. My first favorite pale ale. I find this crisp and refreshing. It has a nice hop bite, some bitter citrus, but a healthy malt backbone. My favorites for pale ales now are Dale’s Pale Ale and San Tan’s Devil’s Ale, but this one still holds a place for me.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2013 expired (bi-lo)....good slightly fruity flavor..tad bitter on the finish but not too bad... good medium flavor that isn’t overpowering...slightly malty... good all around beer...second one is a bit watery (had after liquor though and I don’t think this one is expired) x2

The 6-pack box refers to this beer having a ’unique’ citrus character. How? The same citrusy hop aroma has greeted me with many pale ales. It pours a clear rust colour with a thin tan head. Plenty of citrus in the aroma, yet it is balanced out by caramel and spice. The flavour is a tad hoppy.

This is a decent beer on a sunny day, but it's nothing special. It has a citrusy, hoppy nose that the flavor doesn't live up to. If flavor isn't overly important then this beer could be what you're looming for on a warm day. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
