COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A creamy, flavorful Amber that’s smooth and easy to drink. Drop Top is fermented by an American Ale yeast to produce beer with a clean flavor and fruity aroma. The velvet texture is from the use of Honey malt and a touch of milk sugar. The Magnum bittering hops provide soft bitterness, while Simcoe, a newly developed hop variety, adds unique hop flavor and aroma.

Not the best beer but it is great for a summer day. This is also one of the beers that got me into craft brewing so it has some sentimental value.

New stock label is not as cool as the old style. This beer is true to form, but seems like it’s relying on artificial flavors. Kind of syrupy. Hard to drink.

Sample bottle. Pours a light copper/red color, but thin and watery looking. Head was there, but few aromas of weak hops. Wow what a straight forward beer, barley any flavors. Malt and hops were thin, but I suppose if you wanted a lighter summery beer with little taste this is it.

A slightly dry, bran-y nose. High in fibre!? Very cereally and smooth on the palate with a long bran finish. A little boring and I’m not sure it would be too sessionable without getting too sweet.

Hazy amber with a quickly dissolving tan head. Aroma of grains, some caramel, a bit of sourness and light fruit. Taste is more malted than hopped with caramel, mild hops and not much else.

What a tasty ale!! Easy to drink but one that causes you to go slow in order to enjoy its great flavor. Definitely a brew to share with the gang at the BBQ or fish fry! Not at all complex but still very flavorful!! Check out the ‘beer-nerd’ details for even more insights.

Serving Glass: Poured from bottle into pint-like glass. Appearance: Clear golden amber without much head. Aroma: Caramel, cherry and light spiciness. Taste: Caramel and cherry malts drive the beer, but are fairly dry. Light citrus and spicy good hops on the finish. Slight macro aftertaste. Feel: Fairly high carbonation, light-medium body, semi-dry finish. Overall: Easy to drink and refreshing. Something that could appeal to mainstream drinkers and get them interested in ales.

Pours two finger cream head that fades slowly, leaving some lace. Nearly clear amber color. light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Pine and earthy hop nose and flavor is mild caramel, faint breadyness and light piney hops. Dry piney finish. 12oz bottle - gift.

Widmer Brothers Drop Top Amber Ale has a thin, cream-colored head, and a mostly clear, bubbly, amber appearance, with some thin lacing left down the glass. The aroma is mainly bready malt, but some citrus and hops are detected with a deep inhalation. Taste is almost all Orange Julius, with some hop spice at the end and faint breadiness. The mouthfeel has a fluffy ale body, and Widmer Brothers Drop Top Amber Ale finishes mostly dry, easy-drinking, and delicious. There is a definite piney aftertaste. Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and I rate it highly. RJT
