A creamy, flavorful Amber that’s smooth and easy to drink. Drop Top is fermented by an American Ale yeast to produce beer with a clean flavor and fruity aroma. The velvet texture is from the use of Honey malt and a touch of milk sugar. The Magnum bittering hops provide soft bitterness, while Simcoe, a newly developed hop variety, adds unique hop flavor and aroma.

I was not terribly impressed here, just like every other average amber ale out on the market. Quickly diminishing head, with a very opaque amber coloring and no lacing. Off balance and acidic, astringent and piney. It could have once again been a bad bottle, but not something I would be inclined to try again.

Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium amber. Aroma is moderately yeasty (dough, sweat), lightly malty (cookie), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a light note of orange. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Very yeasty smelling, and the citric quality doesn't suit my tastes. Sleep inducing, much like my rating style.

Caramel flavor, a little nutty with light spice tones and light hop bitterness in the finish. Very light in body and flavor, disappointing from a somewhat respectable brewer, more like a Karl Strauss.

Rocky, frothy and lasting head with sticky lace; blandish, pale amber in color. Texture is syrupy at times, watery in others. Hints of spicy hops; grassy and slightly bitter. Light wood notes. Very mild sweetness. Overall, mildly flavored.

Light amber, lasting white head. Little of no aroma. Rather bland malt flavor.

Herbacious nose and orange in color. Lacking in any real flavor, possibly flat. A little fizziness on the palate but thats about all the life this one could muster.

Pretty much lawnmower beer, but would be quite good on a hot day. Peach-amber color, lots of sweet malts in the nose. Flavor is a bit tart with grapefruit, good sweetness. Like the palate, very soft and smooth. Nothing exciting, but good for what it is.

Clear amber with small off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit with some sweetness. Taste is soft grapefruit, moderately sweet, peach. Overall, an innocuous beer.

Quite impressed. Hoppy but not overwhelming, the hops really stand out. Citrusy taste, definitely taste grapefruit. Widmer succeeds because this beer isn't over the top.
