Bottled (as Nelson Imperial IPA, 8.6%) at Monk’s American Bar, Stockholm. Clear amber, small head. Aroma of blue cheese and grapefruit. Sweet with medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Fruity with grapefruity hops. A bit syrupy with mild resiny bitterness. Unfirm.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 jzzbassman (1362) - New Albany, Mississippi, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Bottled as Widmer Nelson Imperial IPA. Pours amber with a rocky uneven head. Aroma from the hops that I get as a cross between peach and grapefruit. Fruit bomb of an IPA, yes the berry notes are really prominent. Reads a bit sweet and finishes long.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 glennmastrange (1884) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Bottle. Light grain and caramel for the malt, moderate perfume and orange for the hops, faint soap for the yeast, with hints of butterscotch, honey and light dried fruit. Head is average size, frothy, light beige with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky medium amber/orange. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a soft carbonation. A tasty beer, but to me it’s distant from a true DIPA.

Tap at Valhalla.. Pour is a dark gold with fluffy white head. Pour is a bit cloudy. Smell is sweet with some nice citrus. Taste is both sweet and bitter. Sticky and oily mouthfeel. Overall imbalanced and pretty much a mess.

Poured a deep orange. Full bodied. On the sweeter side but you get a lot of the hop qualities in both aroma and bitterness. I really enjoyed this.

Maybe I got an old bottle. Not much aroma, but what is there is piney and a little citrus. Taste is like a Chinook hop. Super resiny. Coats my mouth hole with hop oil. Not a fan. This goes in my kegerator on a shelf where shit beers go to be forgotten.
