A golden unfiltered wheat beer that is truly cloudy and clearly superb.

This is a very well rounded GOOD beer. Appearance is cloudy golden; it's very bright and attractive. Not much of a head. Smells slightly sweet... and lots of wheat. EASY drinking- goes down smooth. Slightly sweet, and tastes just like it smells. This is a very good session beer. It's smooth, easy, and tasty. And though I'm not a huge fan of the style, this is one I'd turn to again next time I'm in an area that sells it.

on tap and in the bottle: when it comes to wheat beers, this is one of the better ones for the americans. this is readily available everywhere here in las vegas (or pyramid). beutiful yellow color, hazy with frothy white head. please dont drink these with a lemon, it ruins all the flavor....ask the germans if they drink their weizens with a lemon?

Pours a nice thick orange cloudy color. thick fluffy white head that dissipates slowly, leaving a good quantity of lace. Aroma of lemon and orange, mixed with a very light wheat scent. Bitter taste to start, leaving a sweetness like oranges. Light mouthfeel. Refreshing.

Hangover (1059) - Atlanta, Alabama, USA - JAN 11, 2004
Wonderful appearance... poured a murky yellow with some sediment and a nice fluffy white head. Aroma is of banana, citrus, and maybe some pear. Surprisingly hoppy, some spice and fruit in the taste.. a little too carbonated for my taste. Moderately bitter finish. It's OK, nothing outstanding, but drinkable.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2005 It looked great ... wonderful cloudy apricot golden brew, and I was really hopeful. Thin watery mouthfeel, which is really surprising given the wonderful appearance. Flavor is not bad, with some banana, some spice, like a real hefe, but less than I expected of it, given the appearance. Disappointing finish. // Rerated December 2005. Less interesting than I remembered. Less flavor intensity. Looked like a Hefe. Tasted like a under hpped lager with a lemon.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2004 Draught. I had this about 4 years ago in a huge tall hefe glass. It was amazing. I'll never forget it. Rich, grainy, viscous, unfiltered. Was like drinking cream. Puney on taste & hops(I prefer pale ales)like most American hefes though. Will have to do it again sometime.

Bottled. Significantly better than the Smuttynose I just rated, but so what? Still nothing special. Hefes are something I seem to be able to get in decent numbers here in VT, but I still keep going back to Paulaner after mediocre stuff like this. Starts out ok, with nice rich-looking orange/yellow body, thick lasting head. Nose is sweet, banana, simple but full and malty. Flavor is a letdown though, too soft boring and sweetly banana at first but harsh and lemon-juicy (not in a good way, not lemonade, acid lemon juice) towards the finish. Why did I buy a six of these? Oh, on a closeout sale. Wonder why...

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2004 nice yeast smell; cloudy as would be expected, but with an almost orange color; moderately bittter hops flavor; good, but not great

Thin head from the pour but good carbonation keeps it around for a while. Not much wheat aroma. Slight floral hops presence and a touch of malt. Color is a nice cloudy, medium amber/orange. Flavor is a little on the thin side. Slightly gritty from all of the sediment. Decent hops flavor though. Hops prominent, again, at the finish which lends towards a dry, bitter finish. Quite nice finish. A good beer but besides the cloudiness, does not resemble (taste) like a traditional wheat beer (i.e no yeast, hay, wheat flavor)

Really one of the better American Hefe-weizens. Very cloudy upon the pour. Nice wheat flavor. Very good for the summer.
