2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Very light hints of wheat but mostly a big nose of rubbery hops & very little sweetness. Astringent nose. Cloudy butterscotch amber. Small off-white head -thin and some lacing. Medium watery body. Carbonation is light to medium. Taste has a light sweetness up front with OK hop tang. Folds into an ascerbic bitter. Finish is bitter with some wheat. After is bitter with light sweetness. Mediocre Amer wheat.

On tap. Murky orange. Fairly sweet, more than I like. Citrus flavor, smooth, easy to drink and refreshing. Not a bad compliment to a spicy meal or hot summer day.

CLoudy light orange-golden hue. Herbal fruity nose. Soft creamy mouthfeel. Very citric with a slight bitter finish. Very dinkable and decent wheat.

A whirlwind tour of American wheats continues. I enjoyed Widmer Bros.; it poured a cloudy light orange with a thin, persistent white head. Taste was yeasty wheat, with a nice touch of citrus. Enjoyable, if not spectacular.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This wheat beer was more cloudy than any of the other American wheats that I've tried, it looked almost like apple cider. It was fairly citrus-y. None of the flavors really stuck out, for the most part it was bland.

When it comes to wheat beers I rarely stray from the german Biermesters who own the style. But this one was recommended to me and I gave it a try. Looks similar to it's german counterpart and even more cloudy. Dark golden with sizable head. Smell is on the citrus side and not yeasty as the german wheats. Flavor is fruity and also more so than the german wheats. Not a bad effort but I'll stick with the german wheat beers, for now at least.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap: cloudy yellow/orange color, not much aroma, weak ending. I don't care much for the American Wheat style and this didn't do much to change my mind.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 15, 2010 Surprisingly light orange in color. Bit of a bite on the palate, but good wheat flavor with well balanced hops. Enjoyable, but not special. Rerate, many years later. Not exactly my best review, but still pretty accurate, and numbers didn’t change, but 1 point on aroma, and 1 down on overall. So the same.

On tap at Eli Cannons, May 11th, 2003. Happy Mothers Day, Mom. This one's for you. Beer arrived looking nice and cloudy, opaque even, with a bright yellow color, and a light fluffy white head. It's looking pretty authentic so far. Aroma has some of the banana/cloviness to it, but it seems a little light and underdeveloped. Flavor is decent, albeit a bit bland. Some mild banana and clove, bit not enough. Mostly it's that bland dry american wheat beer flavor. Hopping is pretty agressive for the style. I can actually taste it. I'm not sure that's a good thing, but i really don't mind. Carbonation is moderate and suits the style well. It's a pretty good beer, but I think I'll stick to the german breweries when it comes to hefeweisen.
