A golden unfiltered wheat beer that is truly cloudy and clearly superb.

Serving: Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass. Appearance: Pours a hazy pale amber color, with a small amount of wheat sediment. Decent amount of frothy white head that dissolves quickly, leaving a minimal amount of lacing. Aroma: Biscuity aroma with citrus notes, and a hint of bubblegum. Taste: Very similar to the aroma. Lots of wheat and breadiness, accompanied by crisp citrus flavors. Also notes of malt with a slight hoppy bitterness. Palate: Light with creamy mouth feel, with a medium amount of carbonation. Goes down smooth, and finished dry. Overall: Overall I felt that this beer was decent and would be nice on a summer day. It was refreshing and paired well with my blue cheese salad. Although I enjoyed the taste, I prefer more banana and clove.

Although not usually a fan of weizen, picked up a bottle as part of a multi-bottle deal. It pours an orange-gold with a white head. Taste is quite sweet with a banana flavour and a hint of spice. Overall a tasty enough beer but nothing out of the ordinary.

I've had it in bottle and on tap. Tap is much better. Aroma is clean and fresh. Pours hazy golden. Tastes of bananas. Not a bad idea to add a little lemon to it Revere Stryker dog!

12 fl oz bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Sweet aroma of wheat, yeast and citrus. Sweet flavour with wheat, banana, yeast and a lightly citric, dry, bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation.

355ml bottle as "Widmer Brothers Hefe" at abv 4.9% bought at Soho Wines & Spirits in Sai Wan.

Cloudy hazy dull golden honey with lots of dirt- like yeast sediments; One finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Very good sticky lacing and near zero carbonation; Very fragment aroma of honey and raisins, with light pineapple, vanilla, caramel, light toffee, sugar, bubble gum, light malt, strong yeast and faint grass; Near zero sweet taste of light malt, with fair wheatyness, very light caramel, light biscuits, strong yeast, very light lemon and shades of grass; Mid to light body. Slick and quite sluggish palate; Mouth feel is more wheat ale than a hefeweiss - really thin, kinda fragile body with fair light malts and bare minimal wheat without tartness and feels like it can’t hold up anytime soon. Non-German yeastyness with no phenolic or spice whatsoever. Flat taste all the way with only notes of caramel and minimal hops. Hmmm…Hoppiness is faint grass nose, very light lemon and faint grass taste. hades of bitterness in background, just low wheaty finish; Fairly dry after taste, very easy and mouth.

Comments: This is not too bad as a wheat ale - nice fruity aroma gives way to flat, tasteless and slightly sluggish palate. No German yeast, no phenolic ester, no spice, and how dare they put Hefeweizen on the label. Okay-ish if the price is right.

2014.05.21 - Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen - on tap at Dan's. Again, meh. I'm not a big wheat fan, though I do like several Widmer Brothers offerings. Unfortunately this one doesn't do it for me. It's certainly drinkable, but I wouldn't order or buy it again. They gave it to me since the Columbia Common was finished. Overall: almost all the aroma and flavor is from the lemon wedge they stuck in it. A bit of a "malt"-y sweetness, that's it. 6/2/4/3/13
