I don’t really understand how this is a hefeweisen. I see its listed as a wheat beer here which makes more sense. Aroma was fairy unimpressive with very little spice. Tastes weird and not what I was expecting. It might be better than I’m rating it is just different from what I’m expecting.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow, one inch tall airy head. Low retention. The aroma is floral with a notes of honey/nectar & white bread. Light body. Thin to oily palate. The fruity flavour presents melon, honey, white bread, spicy & citric hop. Light bitterness. Pretty decent.

Widmer Bros knows how to brewing a hefeweizen. Lots of good malty dough and yeast flavor balanced out with some hops.

DAA; Bottle 355 ml, from Vinmonopolet. Pours moderate, cloudy gold with a frothy, fading, still lacing white head. Nose is moderate, malt, wheat, yeast, grass, citrus, light perfume and spice. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a somewhat lasting orange finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft.

bartlebier (3347) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - MAY 18, 2016
12oz sampled from BH as Hefe (arrived fresh bottled JUL2015, ach those trade routes). - Bref: does for Hefe what Blue Moon did for Wit. A wheat ale by any other name still wouldn’t be a Weizen. Cascades saving the show over white bready wheat, spent lemon drops, dusty fruitloop-loco where the actual Hefe won’t go. Very thin bodied, stone fruit peel wheat radler. Hm. File under: US Craft does not do mature German styles any justice - update that NW Widmer-SW Kirchzarten connection. Hard to taste where this once was a pioneer beer of the movement.
