Imperial O’Ryely Dark was made to showcase how a little dark malt, more hops and higher ABV would complement our O’Ryely IPA. This Dark Rye-PA uses Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand, which impart a grape-like aroma. The addition of rye backs up the spicy, fruitiness of these exotic hops. Ramp up the malt and hop bills and you have one big, dark, badass beer! Prost!

Tap @ The Eastburn during their Rye fest... Poured dark, almost black with hints of red and a thin head. Nose was fruity. This had an off astringency to it with big dark fruit note. Not very defined and really hard to see what they were going for. Not hoppy either nor having a defined malt and roast note. So it was way off if you’re going to call it an IPA or Black IPA/CDA. This beer had an identity crisis.
