Widmer Brothers Imperial Porter

Draft during the fall at the Ghasthaus. Dark brown hue with cream colored head. Good retention with some lacing. Big aroma of coffee, nuts, cocoa, mild dark fruit and slight smokiness. Flavor of chocolate, coffee, licorice, mild caramel and some nice hop bitterness in the finish. A pleasant beer for the cold rainy weather months.

On Tap at the BrewPub. Probably clear but too dark black to tell. Light roasted aroma. Dark roasted malt flavors. Deep tanned leather with a bitter smoky bite. Appropriately sweet to balance. Bitteress in not hops but more just smokey.

Tap @ Gausthaus: Dark ruby, hints of nuts in the nose, bright coffee and roast, some chocolate. The flavor is robust, nice sweet licorice and chewy berry notes. Moderate alcohol, light astringency and a creamy body and tail.
