Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an average brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium complex dark roasted coffee aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted coffee flavor with a medium to heavy roasted dark coffee finish of moderate duration. This is a solid brew.

Dark brown pour. Creamy tan head. Very light chocolate, lactose, plastic. Flavor is like magic markers mixed with a milk stout. Meh.

22. Pours black with a thin, wispy dark tan head. Mild chocolatey sweet nose, kinda smells like Whoppers--malted milk candy. Fairly thin body. Soft carb. Chocolatey, chalky mid-palate with a mild sweet finish.

Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Hearty super-dark brown pour with a light brown crown. Rich roast aroma, coffee and chocolate notes. Hearty roasted malt with a nice sweetness and acidity that keeps this highly drinkable despite it being quite full-bodied. Yum!

The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is very similar. I get some bitter chocolate and heavily roasted malt notes. There is also a hint of smoke and some cream notes. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body, almost black, with a small fizzy brown head that had pretty decent retention before fading to a thin film. The nose is quite sweet and chocolaty with some roast, light coffee, and maybe a bit of a weird dry roasted peanut like note. Flavor wise, it’s indeed quite sweet up front with a lot of milk chocolate and some coffee. It finishes a bit on the drier side though, with a slightly burnt and acrid malt quality that really lingers. I’m a fan of it not being overly sweet all the way thru, but the finish seems a little off. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. This is drinkable, but not something that I’d seek out and buy again.

boFNjackson (3580) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 22, 2012
Bottle... Poured pitch black with a thick forming, frothy, eggy, light khaki head. Smooth, full bodied mouthfeel. Along the lines of chocolate milk with a lot of cocoa, lactose sugar, mocha, and roast. Added char quality was sort of astringent but not overbearing.
