Pours a jet black with a latte head. Very pretty. A touch of sweetness along with a good hit of roast coffee bitterness. In the end it smooths out though. Lovely beer.

12 oz. can purchased at @ Nikki’s Liquors, Providence, R.I. for $2.59. Stamp says bottled on 12 September 2012. Guinness pint glass shows a black liquid with a quickly disappearing tan head that leaves nothing in its wake. Nose is roasted barley, chocolate and light pine hops. Where is the sweet lactose or sweet sugar? I was expecting roasted malts and coffee sweetness somewhere. It tastes more like a weak Black IPA. Thinner body with a slight pine finish. When I open a sweet stout, that’s what I want to drink. Complete false advertising here. The rating reflects that fact.

Sweet aroma welcomes your palate that is further enticed by a thick khaki head and black bodied Milk Stout. Maltiness gives way to flavors of coffee, sweet chocolate, and a light bitterness. This is one smooth and very tasty Milk Stout.

Black body with a quarter inch sized creamy tan head.
Creamy milk aromas over burnt oat notes..with some treacle thrown in.
Taste is very cream like..with nice dark fruitiness and molasses and slight pipe tobacco..very nice.
Nice feel in the mouth its not as thick as anticipated but still holds together.
Very nice tasty stout here.

A - Pours a dark brown-black color with a finger of frothy chocolate-khaki colored head atop. The head fades down at a fairly slow pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of roasted chocolate malts, lactose sweetness, some earthy hops, black licorice, and coffee.
T - Starts off with a mix of roasted chocolate malts with some lactose sweetness and black licorice. Through the middle, some roasted coffee comes through with some earthy hops and some more lactose. The finish is a mix of roasted chocolate malts, coffee, lactose, and earthy hops.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, roasted, and lightly sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice balanced milk stout with a good finish.

February 10, 2013 - bottle from AV. Black pour with nice head that lasted and nice lacing. Roasted malt, smoke, lactose and piney hops. Taste was very roasty even ashy, but starts out smooth creamy milky. The finish was a rough piney bitterness that I did not care more.

Draft. Pretty decent brew. Very smooth but not super sweet like I was expection. I’m not usually a huge fan of Widmer, but this one is very well done.
