Pours a thick black on tap with nice tab head and good lacing. Sons of coffee and roasted malts with a slight lactose sweetness. Taste is bitter coffee with a hint of toasted toffee and a silky finish. Nicely done.

12 oz single from Roth’s Sunnyslope Market, Salem Oregon. $1.89 Black body with a quarter inch sized creamy tan head. Creamy milk aromas over burnt oat notes..with some treacle thrown in. Taste is very cream like..with nice dark fruitiness and molasses and slight pipe tobacco..very nice. Nice feel in the mouth its not as thick as anticipated but still holds together. Very nice tasty stout here.

February 10, 2013 - bottle from AV. Black pour with nice head that lasted and nice lacing. Roasted malt, smoke, lactose and piney hops. Taste was very roasty even ashy, but starts out smooth creamy milky. The finish was a rough piney bitterness that I did not care more.

Sweet aroma welcomes your palate that is further enticed by a thick khaki head and black bodied Milk Stout. Maltiness gives way to flavors of coffee, sweet chocolate, and a light bitterness. This is one smooth and very tasty Milk Stout.

"I miss the old Widmer winter seasonal, snow plow (kinda sorta a 5% version of this beer). The alcohol makes the body a little more robust but not quite as epically smooth as the old Standby. Milk chocolate and roast abound, though, and for $5, a good deal too."

Black pour with a small creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, milk chocolate and a hint of ash. Flavor presents a nice roasted character with bittersweet chocolate, coffee and creamy sweetness. Medium bodied with a sweet finish. Solid offering from Widmer.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2013 Draft at Moriartys. Is this new? Not expecting to find a brand new beer here. But anyways ... Opaque brown pour with a nice pillowy brown head that died to a light foam after 5 minutes. Dark vanilla nutty aroma. Tasting black coffee. Chestnuts. Vanilla Tootsie Rolls. Some creamy elements bring some fullness but the darker notes provide most of the flavor. Semi-sweet chocolate. Charcoal. Burnt marshmallows. Creamy middle but a slightly bitter finish - not in a bad way. If the finish were sweet one would get sick of this quickly but the bitter finish proves oddly thirst quenching, so one keeps on keeping on. Feels like a Milk Stout but without the bloated feeling. Someone thought this brew through and I appreciate it.

Perfectly smooth, strong, silky, and sweet. Easily Widmer Brothers’ best beer.
