Bottle shared by Blipp at tasting at my house. Pours dark brown with off white head. Nose/taste of resin, pine and caramel with some alcohol in the finish. Medium body. Standard for the style.

Bottle. Pour is amber orange with a thin head that dissipated quickly. Aroma licorice, apples, fruit, and cinnamon. Medium mouth feel, not too thick. Toast, bitters, light sour tinge in the back. The alcohol comes off strong. Aged in wine barrels featuring x431 hops. Not getting any wine barrel flavors whatsoever. Bit disappointed.

2012 bottle. Slightly hazy copper pour with a small off-white head. Aromas of dark fruits, figs, brown sugar, and toffee. The abv is slightly noticeable on the nose. Flavor is warming dark fruits and toffee with notes of caramel. This has aged nicely. Very respectable brew.

brewed in July 2012, drank in July 2014; brewed with bravo hops; amber color; fairly bitter, hoppy aroma for a barleywine; a fairly hoppy barleywine with a good deal of floral hops on a semi-sweet malt base; well balanced

On tap 4 oz. sampler at Dan's Restaurant and Taproom in Boonsboro , MD. Lightly hazy , copper-red with a creamy off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee, earthy hops, dates and brown sugar. Taste of dates, raisins, toffee, alcohol, more fruit, caramel and earthy hops. Medium body and medium carbonation. This 2013 edition is ready to drink now (end of June, 2024) and needs no further aging. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy amber an thin off-white head and moderate lace. Boozy - rum/bourbon - aroma, with oak, vanilla and dark fruits. Taste follows, more of the bourbon than the rum, with a nice dark fruit complexity. Full body, minimal carbonation, sticky mouthfeel and a boozy finish.

2013 year 22oz bottle. A very good beer! Has a good alcohol burn, solid flavor, and great appearance. The aroma was very faint but has a hint of strawberries and bourbon.

From the 650 ml. bottle dated July 19, 2012. Almost two years old. I opened this as my 2014 Easter beer. The pour is deep mahogany amber and reddish hue with a lasting off-white head. The aroma is full of barley malts, dark fruit-like characters, molasses, and sweetness. It still smells like it has some of its 10.2% ABV punch after two years. The body is medium and relatively smooth. The taste goes right to my head in no time with its sweet barley malt character and modest bitterness at the end. After two years the alcohol is not entirely integrated but it is also unoffensive.

22 oz bottle dated July, 2012 poured a clear golden brown. Aroma is sweet caramel. Taste is also caramel with mild hop flavor. Great clean mouth feel and very smooth with minimal burn. Excellent barleywine!

Pours deep amber into a snifter. Tan medium length head recedes to hug rim. Dark caramel aromas. Sweet caramel upfront turning to mild earth in the still sweet finish.

Bottle, 2012 vintage. Pours a copper orange with a dull glow. Modest ring of creamy beige head throughout the glass. Odd spots of lacing. Really bright and hoppy nose, potent in fact. Has an intense citrus, caramel malt, jet fuel vibe to it. Lots of life left in the hops after 18 months. Sharp florals, light citrus, and pine. Definitely packing heat at 10.2% and not shy about it... fits its moniker. The indication is this would age well and it reminds me of Old Boardhead, but with more emphasis on hops.
