Hazy deep amber beer, good off white head. Palate starts smooth but has a minerally crisp edge. Nice creamy malt base, rich but not heavy. Caramel and a trace of toffee. Good balance of orange pine hops. Mild aniseed. Creamy finish with a mellow bitter pine linger. Nice balance.

Bottle at Freakin’ Frog, Las Vegas; vintage 2012, featuring Bravo hops
Clean dark amber color, with medium sized head. Light aroma of malt and caramel. Smooth and round mouthfeel, medium body strength; it has some caramel and malt flavor, with a light nutty touch, moderate sweetness, and correct bitterness.
Strong beer, not enough malty to be considered a Barley Wine.

Keg at the Widmer tap, PDX, 08/11/14. Lightly hazed amber with a decent light beige covering. Nose is sticky toffee pudding, dates, sweet notes, light nutty vibes, brown sugar. Taste comprises toffee, trace of booze, spice, toffee, dates, figs, toasted brown sugars. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not the most complex but a well constructed barley wine.
