Dark amber color with a mostly white head. The bitter hops and the sweetness in this beer battle to a muddled mess.

651ml 2013 yellow wax thanks to LtDan! Clear orange pour. Weak foam. Incredible dried apricot nose. Taste is sweet but juicy, big kumquat, spicy chili powder, pulpy mangosteen. Interesting, fruity, very good! Tropical, pithy.

Bottle shared by Blipp at tasting at my house. Pours dark brown with off white head. Nose/taste of resin, pine and caramel with some alcohol in the finish. Medium body. Standard for the style.

Copper hue. Odd metallic and acetone-like nose... tile cleaner. Entirely too harsxh with a acidic hop kick with a little sweetness in the finish. This thing needs balance... it’s thick and musty and needs either work or age. I suspect the former.

Bomber from Capone’s, aging about a month. Pours clear dark copper with 1-finger creamy off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, fruit, hops. Tastes rich, caramel malty, with notes of fruit, hops, and some honey and spirity hints in the mid-palate. Finishes malty, with a medium palate heft, mild fusels, and moderate complexity. This one is good, but not elite.

Sampled at Toronado 2009 Barleywine Festival. Pours clear deep gold with copper core and nice off white head. The mild aroma has notes of dark fruitiness, some sweet malts and floral hops. The taste is very much to English barleywine style to me with rich chewy dark fruity esters coming from prunes, cherries and ripe plums. It slowly takes on sweet malts and a hint of caramelization. Nice brew that is right on the mark now.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Citrus (grapefruit) aroma with light summer fruits. Grapefruit and light tropical fruit flavor with plenty of malt and caramel. Medium bodied. Tropical fruits and grapefruit lingers with malt and a light sweetness. Well balanced. Easy drinking for 9.5%.

Bottle at James’ place for a tasting. Pours a clear light amber brown with a medium sized white head. Big bright hops on the nose, bright and full of pungent earth and citrus. Medium bodied, spicy malt and citrus, toast and warm yeast. A touch of warming alcohol, toast, malt, spicy hops. Pungent earthy bitterness into the finish. Blurs the line between IIPA and barleywine. Interesting.
