COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our brewers added fresh whole vanilla beans to a few select barrels of our Barrel-Aged Brrrbon ’13, an imperial version of our Brrr Seasonal Ale aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, for this limited edition brew. The addition of vanilla beans heightens the vanilla character imparted by the barrels, and adds a delicious layer of complexity to the beer’s oak and caramel character, making for a smooth warmer perfect for the season.

MALTS: Pale, Caramel, Carapils, Dark Chocolate
HOPS: Alchemy, Simcoe, Cascade

"I’m not sure the vanilla imparted by the barrels NEEDED to be heightened. Kinda like the vanilla BCS in my mind. Not bad, just not neccesary. Tasty, but if anything takes away a tad of complexity from the non-vanilla version(s)."

Poured at a bar when I saw this randomly. Pours a nice deep nut brown. Leaves a creamy of white thick head which didn’t fade hardly and left a nice heavy lacing. Aroma is of vanilla and light resin with notes of roasty nuts and malt. Taste is a really nice lightly sweet but roasty caramel and vanilla with a sturdy malt flavor. The back reaches you witha surprisingly balanced slight floral hop flavor with just the right amount of bitterness. A definite gem to find on draft and very enjoyable.

Ruby brown with a lot of particulates and a fluffy white head. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon, dates. Medium-full bodied, sweet on the palate with a boozy finish. Flavours are vanilla, bourbon, dates, caramel.

Bottle share. 2013. Pours a speckled deep ruby and an off-white cap. Sticky lacing. Aroma of vanilla cake, bourbon, raisin, caramel. Taste is quite sweet and a bit tangy. Sticky mouthfeel, medium dry finish.

Bomber ONLY from Whole Foods Plymouth Meeting circa 4Q 2013 and roughly $10.00. Pours hazy dark brown with balanced vanilla, roast dark malts, cacao, and a balanced finish. This was better than the ginger, and a beer I wish I had more of.

Bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown with tan head. Both aroma and taste consist mainly of bourbon and vanilla. A bit oaky with a very smooth finish. I love this beer; it’s expensive, but really good. Great for a special occasion or to just sit back, sip, and enjoy.

2014.03.30 - Widmer Brothers Banilla Barrel Aged Brrrbon - on tap at Dan's. Very tasty, almost dangerously smooth. You can definitely taste vanilla but it is not near anything I'd call a dessert beer. Overall, about as expected. Repeat purchase worthy.

Pours a beautiful clear chestnut with a fairly thick and rather fine-bubbled light tan head. Malty aroma has firm notes of bourbon-soaked wood and caramel, plus a tantalizing hint of vanilla. Oaky bourbon dominates the bold flavor while letting through hints of caramel, vanilla, chocolate and horehound. Firm, smooth texture has a good amount of fizz and leaves a woody, bourbony, slightly candy-bar finish. This will take the brrr out of chilly weather next time one of them winter storms pays a visit.

On tap at Toronado. Pour is murky brown with a very small tan head. Aroma has subtle hints of vanilla and bourbon but it is pretty faint. Flavor is of vanilla, oak, malt, caramel, and a bit of heat.

(bottle - 22 oz) Dark copper pour with a thin white head. Aroma has a lot of bourbon in it followed by some bitter hops and a touch of vanilla. Bourbon fades sadly in the flavor and the hops take over leaving a bitter and slightly sweet aftertaste from the vanilla and bourbon barrel.
