Our brewers added fresh chopped ginger to a few select barrels of our Barrel-Aged Brrrbon ’13, an imperial version of our Brrr Seasonal Ale aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, for this limited edition brew. The addition of ginger complements the oak, vanilla, and caramel flavors of the beer and results in a smooth winter warmer perfect for the season.

Dark amber pour with a quick medium tannish head. Aroma is soapy coconut and ginger ale. Toasted malt under that and light piney hop. Flavour is toasted malt, pine and oak. Ginger as well of course and a woody finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a fairly hazy dark brown color with a smallish tan head on there. Nose is heavy with ginger in there, and I get little of the base beer or the aging. Taste has some bourbon to it and some ginger, as well as just a bit of the Brrr to it. OK.

Pours a dark amber color with a white head that lasts throughout. Aromas are a bit on the light side but consists of ginger (obviously), caramel malt and vanilla. Flavors are more of the same. The bourbon and ginger makes for a good combination. Full bodied and slightly boozy. Certainly a unique beer.

Not sure how the addition of ginger ups the abv 1.3%, but that’s where it’s at. Maaaaybe a slight improvement, or at least a welcome addition to, the standard vanilla oaky boozy Brrrbon. Good stuff. You can see a s---ton of ginger in the pour. Refreshing for 10%+."

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light and airy. Fine carbonation. Smooth sweetish malt, light cream. Big floral ginger but only modest heat. Mild tangy bourbon provides a nice contrast. Light and slightly bitter finish. Ginger warmth lingers on. Unusual and drinkable.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s Pad, thanks to Kenny, 24/06/14. Lightly hazed dark amber/chestnut brown with a good sized beige swirl and spotting. Nose is caramelised sugars, bourbon rinse, dark toffee, spice, subtle ginger snap biscuit, hint more caramel. Taste comprises pumpkin seed, light ginger, spice, bourbon lick, caramel, herbal notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sweetish ginger licks in the close allied to sublte barrel ageing. Decent as ginger flavoured beers go, subtle BA, drinks below it’s ABV.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Kenneth. Pours clear amber with a frothy, off-white head. Lots of fresh, spicy ginger on the nose, some bready malts. Medium sweet flavor with ginger snap cookies, light toast, alcohol, mild leafy bitterness, graham crackers. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish with crisp ginger spice, more ginger snaps, some boozy wood, slight earth. Nice one.

Bottle thanks to young Kenny. It pours deep brown with a tiny beige head. The nose is sweet, spicy, gingerbread, candy, oak, bourbon and vanilla.the taste is boozy, wood, bourbon, earth, rough, rubbing alcohol and ginger with a short finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Lacks depth and not overly drinkable. Unrefined.

Draft->taster. Amber with creamy offwhite head. ginger and caramel dominate over citrus and bourbon notes. Too much contrivance here.

Hazy amber with some floaties. Creamy beige head. Smells like ginger foremost. Medium to medium plus bodied. Ginger and alcohol..that mostly sums it up for me.
