i was expecting really big things for the $12.99 price tag, but i wasnít too impressed. nice silky mouthfeel, flavor has lots of caramel and some vanilla, more amber aley than anything, and not very much bitterness at all. not smoky at all. i didnít want over the top bourbon flavors, but thereís a lack of complexity going on here that left me underwhelmed.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bomber of Brrrbon í12, (aged for 15 months). Pours a slightly cloudy copper color with a small off-white head that leaves lots of sticky lacing. Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, caramel and a hint of cinammon. Taste is caramel and oak up front with a good backbone of bourbon, vanilla, cinnamon, clove, and toasty malts. Hints of nuts and wheat in the background. Excellent bourbon and oak profile here. Not overbearing but blended perfectly with a nice alcohol burn. Long finish of caramel, vanilla and toasted malts. Medium bodied, oily and slightly creamy texture, average carbonation. Why more breweries donít bourbon barrel age their winter warmers is beyond me. This is amazing! Just an all around perfect winter warmer! Ideal beer for sipping on a cold winter night.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: Toasted caramelized cereals soaked in vanilla with a subtle hint of bourbon barrels. A simplistic beer with timid flavors. Ok.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed many months after purchase.
The look: Almost clear dark copper body topped by a very small off-white head.
In long: Nose is rather discreet for the style, a mix of caramel and vanilla. Taste is equally simplistic. Dried toasted bread (crouton-ish) with some toffee, vanilla, plain construction wood sensation, a bit of cardboard, light notes of earthy dried fruits. Really not much bourbon and if it wasnít for the strong vanilla presence I would not have guessed this beer was even barrel aged. A rather low-intensity beer considering this is a barrel aged barley wine, if anything it is quite easy to drink because so inoffensive. Shy flavors that translate to good drinkability. I canít give it a bad rating because it was easy to drink a full bomber of this mundane barrel aged barley wine. After drinking this beer didnít know whether I was still thirsty for a beer or not, but I drank another beer because why take the chance.

Brrrbon í11 - drunk in 2013. Smooth and DRY?!?!?! \I have never had an ASA that is both this strong and so dry. No sickly sweet sugars, just a very balanced smooth ASA worth every penny.

Pours a dark amber color. Small head that dissapates.

Taste is smooth but largely.....bland. Pretty much akin to a very watered down bourbon. Not necisarrily Bad tasting. it is technically smooth. but by and large underwhelming. Bad batch maybe?
