Hidden in the beautiful dark amber color are aromas of vanilla and caramel that compliment perfectly the presence of bourbon. Soft oak flavors transition into a sweet yet slightly dry finish. After aging the ale for four months, the malt and hop complexity of Brrr has melded harmoniously with the bourbon barrels and become a truly one of a kind beer.

i was expecting really big things for the $12.99 price tag, but i wasn’t too impressed. nice silky mouthfeel, flavor has lots of caramel and some vanilla, more amber aley than anything, and not very much bitterness at all. not smoky at all. i didn’t want over the top bourbon flavors, but there’s a lack of complexity going on here that left me underwhelmed.

2011 vintage I had this one last year and was amazing another year in the cellar didn’t help. Looks like it peaked at 4 years. Pours out a amber topped with a sand head. nose is caramel vanilla light bourbon barrel notes. Taste is starting to feel age a little cardboard but still with the sweet caramel malt and bourbon.

2011 vintage provided by buckeyeboy... Cool to see one of these again.. Thanks Jeremy!! pretty thin ... lite caramel and bunches of a mash-up of odd wood/whiskey/ and bits of dried fruit.. 9.4% isn’t readily available, but the overall brew is thin like a bigger amber that has some obvious barrel work... caramel and minor pick-up toasty malts.. I wish the hops had any play at all... really.. I wish anything with depth played ball tonight.... just nothing except the EtOH to really write home about.

IslandHaole (1207) - Mililani, Hawaii, USA - MAR 24, 2016
2012 bottle, clear amber with ruby hues, just a trace of a beige head. Very sweet with Vanilla and Oak, hints of whiskey & cherries. Quite sweet, still beer with little carbonation. Very warm, alcohol is up front, not hidden. Slick oily feel. A bit of bitterness in the aftertaste but not nearly enough to balance the syrupy sweetness. Getting through this bottle alone will be a challenge.

650 ml bottle thanks to Adrien. 2013. Slight oxidation marks on the inside of cap. Deep Amber color, carbonation is ok. Aroma is light oak, mild dark fruits and slight oxidation.

The flavor is faded. Weak bourbon, lots of oak upfront. The base is dark fruits and English malts. Body is fuller with a nice smoker carbonation level. Overall for the age it’s ok.
