Hidden in the beautiful dark amber color are aromas of vanilla and caramel that compliment perfectly the presence of bourbon. Soft oak flavors transition into a sweet yet slightly dry finish. After aging the ale for four months, the malt and hop complexity of Brrr has melded harmoniously with the bourbon barrels and become a truly one of a kind beer.

Shared bottle with Timfoolery. Smelled of bourbon and sweet malty goodness. Tasted pretty much the same. A little thin on the palate which takes it way down from the elite beers.

Vintage 2011. Lots of burbon on the nose. Tatstes of black licorice, cloves, slight bit of chocolate really drinkable. Not. Chewy as some of these beers tend to be. Costco had vintages 11-13 priced to move. Great way to do a verticals.

2012 bomber from Costco of all places. Nice dark mahogany pour with a light brown head. Vanilla with caramel and malt aromas. Flavor was muted spices from the BRRR with a smooth oak barrel finish with hints of vanilla, caramel, cinnamon and a touch of leather. Great beer.

2013 vintage from bottle. Thin bodied, aroma of bourbon and cough syrup. Little flavorless, alcohol comes through a bit much for this type. Finish wasn’t bad, but the flavor in the finish reminded me of being sick as a child and my mom spoon-feeding me cough syrup. Price (at Costco) was reasonable, but I wouldn’t drink another.

Pours a dark amber from 22 oz bottle. with medium lasting off white head. The aroma is caramel, sugar, hops, and definitely bourbon. The bourbon is pronounced in the taste with strong malt and warming alcohol. The body is medium with a bitter boubony finish. Not really a complex brew but enjoyable for what it is.

Fra flaske på Tap1 mai-14: vi er i innspurten på fredagskvelden, og vi høyner innsatsen, ikke uten fare for eget liv&helse. Dette er good stuff in good company. Tøff, men god sier Petro. Balansert og potent uten at den slår deg i bakken. Vi går videre til deres Raspberry Russian Imp. Stout.

Bourbon beer is delicious. This is an exemplary bourbon beer. I cannot remember where I purchased this. I am getting old.

Bourbon, vanilla, sweet/caramel malt, woody aroma and flavor. A little of a weird sourness in the aftertaste. Maybe a little oxidized? Mostly good, though. (2011)
