Hidden in the beautiful dark amber color are aromas of vanilla and caramel that compliment perfectly the presence of bourbon. Soft oak flavors transition into a sweet yet slightly dry finish. After aging the ale for four months, the malt and hop complexity of Brrr has melded harmoniously with the bourbon barrels and become a truly one of a kind beer.

Bomber. Hazy red-brown pour with a short white head leaving scattered lace. Nose is alcohol and sweet malt. Bourbon is evident from start to finish, but itís never overpowering (I donít care for bourbon) and really adds to this special brew. Licorice, dates, vanilla, caramel populate this heavy body. Light carbonation, the hops add a spice and resin near the finish. There is a touch of oaky umami in the middle, but itís only a hint. long after the finish you get a stomach warmth just as you do with liquor. Drink cool at most. More drinkable than AB/DB or any of their oaked variants, would need to compare directly to LB to pick a winner.

Bomber from BevMo. 2012 edition. Pours dark with medium head. Smells like toffee and bourbon. Taste is rich, caramel, bourbon, dried fruit. The Barrel Aged does surpass the standard for this one.

Rated on 4-27-2011. This bottled beer pours a medium sized very bubbly, very fizzy ivory head that mostly diminishes, copper transparent body, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, bourbon, vanilla, oak, and a suggestion of dark fruits. The taste is oak, vanilla, bourbon, and caramel. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This is a good sipping beer! It is not overly bourbon tasting. It is just right! The various flavors come together extremely well. This is a beer worth trying and a beer I would not turn my back on.

05-APR-2014, bottle @summer house in Marielyst, from Marius Andersen. Clear amber with lasting, lacing, tan head. Aroma is Bourbon and sweet malts. Taste is Bourbon, malts. Definately a red ale underneath the Bourbon with a good malt profile and and some hops. Medium body and carbonation. Really nice and affordable too.

bottle. Brown with small head. So, I have no idea what the underlying beer is here. From appearance, itís moderately malty, like a brown ale or something, but very little flavor makes it way through the bourbon. I suspect they could have bourbon aged some Bud Light and it wouldnít taste substantially different. That said, I enjoyed this -- I just wish some more of the beer flavor came through.

At the Big Texas Beer Fest on 4/5/2014. Draft pours dark bronze with a fluffy gnarly tan head. aroma is cardboard, sweet maltiness, caramel. Taste is caramel and sweet malt, this taste like a barley wine, but the brewer said it was a red strong ale, I donít understand that.

Reddish golden brown like a graham cracker, with a tiny bit of tan head. Aroma is sweet with caramel, and bourbon notes, with some woody astringency that sticks out. Taste is very similar, but the bourbon notes are woodier than expected, with less beer behind them than I would have liked. This will probably be better when it warms up. (broken bus window)

Reddish brown color, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is strong bourbon/oak with notes of caramel, sweeter fruits, light alcohol. Medium bodied, barrel character completely dominates. Light carbonation, fairly sweet, very drinkable with a soft mouthfeel.

2012 edition, aged one year. Poured clear orange-amber with no head to speak of. Aroma is woody, with a note of caramel and a touch of booziness from the bourbon underneath. Medium body, slightly oily with a mild astringency. Nutty malt flavor with a spice note. Charred wood at the back, with a boozy note from the bourbon in the finish. nice.

Pretty good beer, its hard to go wrong with a bourbon aged beer. And as a plus, the wife loves this stuff

22 ounce bottle into snifter; 2012 vintage, bottled on 8/28/2012. Pours fairly clear reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, raisin, pear, vanilla, oak, clove, bourbon, floral, grass, slight pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, raisin, pear, vanilla, oak, clove, bourbon, floral, grass, slight pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Slight earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, raisin, vanilla, oak, clove, bourbon, floral, grass, and toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and moderate robustness of dark malt, bourbon barrel, and light-moderate hop flavors; with a nice malt/barrel balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice barrel aged strong ale. Good balance and complexity of malt, barrel, and light-moderate hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.
