Hidden in the beautiful dark amber color are aromas of vanilla and caramel that compliment perfectly the presence of bourbon. Soft oak flavors transition into a sweet yet slightly dry finish. After aging the ale for four months, the malt and hop complexity of Brrr has melded harmoniously with the bourbon barrels and become a truly one of a kind beer.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2014 reminds me of kentucky bourbon ale more than brrr. if you like bourbon you’ll like this beer. if not, why are you trying it. not a ton of balance, or a ton of the original beer coming through. but it’s sweet aroma of vanilla and oak and peppery bourbon in the flavor are quite nice. i’ll probably have to revisit this side by side with Brrr.

Bottle. Lots of fruit and oak, pretty sweet, lighter body than expected. Light notes of tobacco. Pretty tasty, but not outstanding.

0,65l Bottle. Clear, amber brown color. small lacing head. Aroma is truly a bourbon cask, vanilla oak wood and dark chocolate, sharp ethanolic. Reminds of a bourbon cask aged scottish whisky. Dry, light sour with a bitter finish, the 9.4 ABV are present. Aftertaste has some more bourbon barrel, with dominant simcoe and cascade hops. Medium to thick body, with an average carbonation.

From bottle. Pours a mahogany color with light head. Aromas of bourbon, wood, and tea. Flavors are similar. Emphasis on bourbon without much malt/hop characteristics.

On draft at Tap 25. It pours a ruddy brown color with a khaki head. The aroma is straight up bourbon overload with lots of butterscotch, vanilla, wood and fruitiness. The flavor is pretty much the same. Caramel, vanilla, bourbon, wood and mild fruitiness near the finish. Alcohol is noticeable, but not too oppressive. Just ok.

Bottle with melted plastic on the top - has a ruby red/orange look to it with a medium head and lacing. I can definitely taste a woody bourbon flavor that is smooth. Has a creamy smooth mouthfeel. Somewhat dry. Good!

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Nose is complex tones of vanilla, alcohol, peanuts, bourbon, wood, caramel, hints of red berries, raisins and nougat. Taste is caramel, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, wood, raisins, nougat and hints of coconut, alcohol and burnt sugar. Medium to full body, dry woody finish, medium to soft carbonation. A real treat; complex, big, bold and yet very smooth and drinkable - this is barrel aging at its finest. A solid and original creation from Widmer Brothers, well brewed.
