| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 5, 2009 bottle. tawny burgundy, light haze, toast colored head. warm nose of cherry skin is on the sweet side, the oak is robust and coarse and the doppelbock seems smothered by them both. rich and syrupy texture up front, thins out and turns medicinally sweet across the back, literally like robitussin with the lingering chalky flavor and texture of chewed aspirin. the cherry in no way resembles actual fruit in this beer, maybe it’s the overdone oak or perhaps the amount of sugar, but it tastes quite close to a hangover headache on first sip. zero chocolate malt, zero caramel, pretty much just a straight shot of cherry cough syrup and harsh oak.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2010 Bottle. Rich amber beer with a tan head. Sweet malt aroma with light fruit. Sweet malt flavor with light earth and light fruit. Medium-plus bodied. Malt and fruit lingers with light earth. nuplastikk (1261), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 3, 2010 Boxed 22oz bomber. Deep, opaque red-brown color. Minimal oily head hugs the edges of the glass. Quite an interesting style combination. Very smooth and drinkable for 9%. Mellow cherry, chocolate, and vanilla aroma. The cherry taste really stands out, but is complemented perfectly by the mild oak and sweet dark malts tones. Rather mild carbonation. I really commend them for the interesting combination of styles. This is one of the most enjoyable strong fruit beers Ive ever had. Awesome beer, underrated. jrob21 (1283), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Bottle from total wine in springfield, va but now realizing I could have just picked this up close to home. Oh well, it had a heck of a journey. A little syrupy and molasses sweet with some good fruit flavors. Pours a deep brown. Aroma is mostly prune and plum. Those fruits come through to the flavor as well. Also some cherry and a little bit of vanilla and wood from the oak aging. Loses some of the chewy bread notes of a straight doppelbock but takes on a new character with the oak treatment. 5000 (2900), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Bottle:   Deep brown, large dishwater head, beige, spotty lacing.   Oakish nose, slight unripened cherry.   Maybe even some tootsie roll (over sweetened Doppelbock).   Sweet oak tongue, somewhat of a dark chocolate cherry.   Interesting beer.   Not real heavy, but smooth.   A little bright, but not biting.   Lingering cherry tootsieroll like flavor.   Not a fan, but this is more fruity than tootsie.   Not hot for 9%.   Fairly enjoyable.   A little candyish.   Bock is secondary to the oak and cherry.   Not half bad.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 1, 2010 22 oz bottle. Pours reddish brown with a 1/2" beige head. Aroma is Sweet caramel, malt and cherry. Full bodied palate and low level carbonation. Sweet doppelbock flavor, mostly caramel, with just the right amount of cherry. Enought to make it interesting, but not overpowering. Little bit of oak flavor too. A nice holiday treat. scooterbub (393), Lander, Wyoming, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 27, 2009 22 ounce bottle. Pours a dark cloudy brown with a decent tan head that lasts. Taste is of malt, cherry, caramel, alcohol, chocolate, oak and some hops. Slightly tart with a minor bitter and alcohol aftertaste. The aroma is similar, but more alcohol comes through. Smooth and easy to drink. A nice holiday beer. slimweebs (144), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2009 I have always been intrigued by cherry flavored beers. It seems to be a fruit that many brewers try to play with but most of the time they just get it wrong and dominate an often overly simple beer with cherry flavor. This one got it right! The dopplebock is done very nicely with rich full body and sweet tongue, with just enough coffee/chocolate flavor to give it a nice roasted background, and the cherry flavor is very subtle and tasted on the back end. This is a really nice beer. cbkschubert (2029), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 26, 2009 22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a brown color with a one finger thick light tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is dark esters, cherries, and faint oak. Flavor is toasted malt, dark esters, and a tad bit of herbal hops. The esters linger in the finish. Medium body. A decent beer, but it’s something I would not buy again.
