3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a three finger cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is grapefruit hops and flavor is grapefruit hops and caramel. Not bad but tart for a barleywine. $10.00 for a 22oz bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Limited Release #4. Spring 2011. Bottle dated Mar14, 2011.
Poured from 22 oz bottle after aging for a little more than a year.
Fairly clear, orangish dark Brown with 1 finger tan head and good lacing. Both lacing and head disappear as the beer warms.
Aroma of thick caramelized malts, brown sugar, prunes, overripe strawberries, earth, pine and light grapefruit.
Taste is hoppier with a bitter pine resin and softer citric flavors competing with the strong malt flavors of caramel and brown sugar along with dried fruits, dates, vanilla, oak, earthy and buttery flavors. Aftertaste is rather bitter. Sweetness comes out more as the beer warms. Call Although it's taste is not outstanding taste, I'm really enjoying this balanced barley wine as it warms.
Full body and above-average carbonation work well together to provide a nice mouthfeel.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Fruity aromas of cherry, dark fruit, and citrus hops. I think everything on this beer is decent until the finish, which has a medicinal quality. ABV is well hidden.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz sample on tap at The Ale and the Witch in St. Pete, FL. The aroma has some catty, hopped, dank simcoe-like notes. Fruity, sweet, sticky notes are present, too. Some pleasant brown sugar is also in there. Mostly transparent ruddy-brown/mahogany body with a creamy off-yellow head. Good lacing. Attractive. Starts a little funky with tons of simcoe-like hoppy flavors. A little caramel and vinous notes present towards the middle. Finishes with a harsh, ethanolic and hop bitterness. A little too big and brash.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Crimson/garnet pour with a small eggshell head that left a spot
or two of lacing. Aroma is caramel, toffee, honey, and brown sugar with a slight hop profile lending some citrus. Flavor also shows some orange peel, grapefruit pith, and lemon...underlying, of couse. Sweetness definitely takes center stage. Still a bit young, as the alcohol isn’t completely hidden.
