3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle. Rating #33. Somewhat clear dark brown color with a small beige head. Mild aroma, light sweetness and a bit of toast. Kind of a metallic flavor, a little sweet and some nuttiness. Not much there, drinkable, but the barrel is practically non-existent. (2471)

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a delicious looking clear brown with a lingering, light brown head. Smells slightly boozy with hints of vanilla and molasses. Tastes about what the scent and appearance imply -- smooth and malty, quite sweet with a definite alcohol front. Had a slightly metallic aftertaste and was a bit astringent. Overall the description and color outweigh the taste and mouthfeel.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is wood, vanilla, rum, toffee. The appearance is a translucent brown/red, white head. The flavor is wood, vanilla, caramel, not many of the usual brown ale features. The finish is wood, booze, light pine needles. Medium in body. Decent overall.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Beautiful smelling and Beautifully tasting beer from Widmer Brothers. The taste was the weakest point for me, but it goes down smooth and easy. A great beer from their reserve, you can slightly smell it was aged in the rum barrels as advertised.

Well, still waiting for one of these boxed wider beers that Iíd pay the high price for again. This isnít it. Some obvious rum flavors from the beginning with a hint of coffee as well, yet it just isnít anything amazing.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: † Deep muddy burnt caramel, moderate sandy head, frothy, with nice lacing. † Molasses and burnt brown sugar nose. † Also a touch of dark pitted fruit and cotton candy, well burnt cotton candy. † On the tongue I am getting a little bit of an astringent soy like flavor, almost like the dark pitted fruit is too heavy and way too bready. &nbps Reminds me of a seriously over done Doppelbock. † Body and mouthfeel are moderate. † Heavy brown sugar flavors, molasses, slightly burnt. † Its almost too much. † Needs some hop bitterness to balance out the heavy maltiness. † Too sugary sweet overall. † Slight rum flavors on the finish. † Needs something... maybe some more hops to balance it out. † Could stand to be less sweet, but more velvety. † Tiz okay, but a little rough around the edges.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours pretty dark brown with a 1/4 inch beige head. Lots of rum and treacle in the aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is massively treacle with rum and some citrus and arguably pear. It burns slightly. Iím thinking this massively flavorful ale will age well. Brilliant concoction.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Labeled as Limited Edition Number 6) This beer starts off with a sweet aroma, with hints of rum and molasses. It pours a clear reddish amber, with a quickly fading light tan head. This is a very sweet beer, with the balancing notes being of rum and oak. Thereís a long lingering finish, where a touch of vanilla comes through. The price is a bit high on this one ($16 a bottle), I do feel that it is something worth trying though.
