Pours a deep brown sugar color with a thin head. Nose is molasses and a hint of roast. Very sweet tasting beer, finish is sugary and long. Okay, but I won’t have a second.

Deep golden brown color. Light malty sweetness to the smell. Syrupy mouth feel with heavy malt residue left on the tongue! Where the sip was enjoyable the after taste was similar to licking treated wood.

Aromas of maple syrup, molasses, honey and yeast. Deep brown with a magenta tint. Assertive hops and burnt caramel upfront. Slick, syrupy molasess, raisins, amber malt and boozey undertones. Finish leaves a continues booze taste and syrup on the tongue. Overall, This was much hoppier than I expected. Noticeable alcohol and nice malt base. I’d give this an A- rating.

Barreras (1047) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - JUN 8, 2013
Pours a molasses color with aroma of sweet caramel and malt. Taste is very easy drinking, no distinct flavor standouts. A strong sugar and mild rum in the flavor, overall a decent beer.

Draft at Grumpy’s downtown. Pretty faint aroma. Need to breathe in deeply to get anything. Dark, hazy amber with yellowish light tan head. Nice lace. Initial mouthfeel is hot. But it quickly mellows into a caramelly sweet flavor brought on by the oak and palm sugar. A really nice brew.

NikkTwist (1743) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 2, 2013
Draft at Moriartys for a Widmer Bros. event. Dark amber pour with a foamy off-white head that laces. Lots of caramel malt. Brown sugar. Orange spice. Syrupy body. Not bad.

Poured a finger of tan head on a dark brown body. Looks great. The aroma is wonderful: molasses, dark chocolate, coffee and brown sugar. The taste starts off lighter: vanilla and nuts. Then moves to a sweet profile: brown sugar, malty and a black licorice and alcohol heat finish. The texture is a little sticky with low carbonation. It’s a great beer and interesting... but at quite a price.

Pours orangish brown with small off white head. Aroma of molasses and malts. Taste is even better...carmel malts, molasses, salt, and alcohol.
