At first kind of thin. Not getting a big brown ale taste. Then the rum notes start to pop as the beer warms up. By the end quite nice but I would still prefer more rum to start.

22oz bottle. Rating #33. Somewhat clear dark brown color with a small beige head. Mild aroma, light sweetness and a bit of toast. Kind of a metallic flavor, a little sweet and some nuttiness. Not much there, drinkable, but the barrel is practically non-existent. (2471)

Pours a deep brown sugar color with a thin head. Nose is molasses and a hint of roast. Very sweet tasting beer, finish is sugary and long. Okay, but I won’t have a second.

Clear reddish amber with an small off-shite head and minimal lace. Aromas of molasses, dark fruit and brown sugar. Caramel malt seetness up front, accompanied by molasses, smoke and a rummy alcohol burn. Medium body, minimal carbonation, somewhat thin mouthfeel, and an alcohol burn in the finish. Might have liked this more if I liked rum. But I don’t.

"Unique, but I question the choice of barrels and the ability of the beer to stand up to barrels. Tropical flavors, coconut and wood, passion fruit maybe? From the barrels. The beer doesn’t shine through a whole lot. Sweet molasses and a hint of roast is about it. Overpriced."

650 ml. bottle. Served at cellar temp. Pours a thin, fizzy, short lived ivory head over a clear reddish brown (SRM 20) body.......nose is molasses, plum, raisin, toffee/caramel, alcohol, hints of cocoa.....taste is sweet, with light plum, raisin, vanilla, rum, terpene....mouth feel light, alcohol burn present, carbonation low. This is very unbalanced, with the rum barrels and the alcohol dominating the other ingredients leading to minimal complexity in both aroma and flavor, finishing with a harsh alcohol burn. BJCP 6/3/12/3/6

Pours a molasses color with aroma of sweet caramel and malt. Taste is very easy drinking, no distinct flavor standouts. A strong sugar and mild rum in the flavor, overall a decent beer.

Bottle. Comes in a nice fancy brown box...must be good! Pours a slightly cloudy brown reddish color with a slight light tan head. Aroma is molasses, rum, and booze. Medium mouthfeel. Molasses, metallic, rum, and some vanilla. The rum really stands out on this one. Overall, it’s really not that enjoyable, just a little too much on the rum. Warms the throat on the way down. Minimal head retention.

Deep brown pour, cream head. Nose is syrup, sugar, malty, dough, and sweet. Easy palate, heavy dough, molasses, sugar, where’s the rum?
