Bomber bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID. Pours murky brownish-orange with a medium collapsing beige head. Aroma is strong in artisan caramel, molasses, booze, licorice. Taste is sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Flavors of licorice, wet dog, rum. Oily mouthfeel, full body. Smells better than it tastes, but this is not bad.

Aromas of maple syrup, molasses, honey and yeast. Deep brown with a magenta tint. Assertive hops and burnt caramel upfront. Slick, syrupy molasess, raisins, amber malt and boozey undertones. Finish leaves a continues booze taste and syrup on the tongue. Overall, This was much hoppier than I expected. Noticeable alcohol and nice malt base. I’d give this an A- rating.

Sampled at NH Brew Fest. 4 oz. sample. Pours a hazy dark brown with a 1/4" white head. Aroma includes rum, molasses & dark fruits. Flavor is sweet with the molasses and dark fruits being predominant, but there is a bitterness from some earthy hops. Medium bodied. Nice, I’d buy a bottle if one came my way.

Dark brown but still a little clear. Tan head and a sweet aroma. Sweet taste with a hint of oak and a little alcohol taste. Very smooth considering the alcohol content. More of a dessert beer than one to drink with dinner.

Bottle. Pours hazy brown with tan head. Aroma of maple, brown sugar, woos, hints of rum, malty. Flavor is much the same with a nice sweetness and alcohol spice. Heavy body with medium carbonation. Overall, very pleasant brew.

Draft. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy wood, dark sugar & toasted malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations were exceeded.

YOU NEED TO LET THIS BEER WARM UP SOME! 22oz bottle. This beer pours like a brown should. Not much head. When cold, it smells of rum, way more than it tastes of it. When it warms up, the rum blends nicely with the Brown Ale aroma. Looks like any other Brown Ale, with less carbonation. The taste starts out a mellow rum flavor that unfolds into the brown flavor. Finishes a little dry, prolly the alcohol doing that. The palate is starts out dry and fizzy. The aftertaste is very rummy. Overall, this beer is much different cold than warm. I didn’t really find it that good before it warmed up some. I am going to try and find another bottle of this to age, but remember...LET IT WARM UP for the best flavor and aroma.

Appearance: Pours a dark iced tea brown with a swirly white film a top.

Aroma: Fruity floral tea, sugar, bubble gum.

Taste: Cola, brown sugar, licorice. Mild hop bitterness. No nuttiness or traditional brown ale notes. Didn’t find anything particularly boozy about the taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied fizzy.

Overall: Well above average, and exceeded my expectations for a Brown Ale. Widmer along with Karl Strauss try not to go too extreme with their barrel aging, but I would like them to take a chance and make something with some more barrel character, meaning keep the juice in the barrels longer.
