Draft at Moriartys for a Widmer Bros. event. Dark amber pour with a foamy off-white head that laces. Lots of caramel malt. Brown sugar. Orange spice. Syrupy body. Not bad.

On tap at Independent Ale House. Pours clear reddish brown with small head. Aromas of molasses, caramel, earthy malts, and light coffee sweetness. Flavors lighter earthy malts, molasses, toffee, light nuttiness, bit of wood. Almost comes off like a dopplebock versus a brown ale. Dangerously drinkable for such a big ABV beer.

22oz bottle. Clear amber/brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma of sugary malt, dark fruit, toffee, alcohol and some leather. Flavor is sweet and sugary with warming alcohol, toffee and fruity yeast esters. Medium to light body with a thin mouth feel. Not a bad beer but just kind of thin and alcoholic.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2013 Bottle shared by Rob at local tasting, pours a light hazy brown, poured a lot lighter than I was expecting, the aroma was really sweet with a lot of sweet malt and caramel with a little bit of the rum coming through, the flavor has more of the rum on the front end with some molasses and caramel sweetness in the finish, not bad.

Bottle shared by rschnake...thanks Rob! - Pours rosy amber with a thin white head. Nose is sweet booze--whiskey and light bread. Taste is sweet caramel, light warm booze, raisins, and smooth malty sweetness. Thinnish with light carbonation. Better than I thought it’d be.

Draught from draught 55. Super boozy and a brown pour. Rum raisin and sugar. OK but a bit much.

Chestnut/pecan colored body with a razor thin ivory head that diminishes into a ring. Nose is almost unnoticeable. Very subtle. Slight aroma of caramel and toffee. Flavor shows a little bit of tobacco, oak, vanilla, and a bit of the rum. A bit thin...
