COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An extremely rich and complex beer. The addition of raspberries during the fermentation process results in an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. Warm chocolate and roasty notes compliment the hop bitterness.

Pours black with low tan head that leaves quite a bit of lacing. Aroma of molasses and raspberry - for any Swedes out there this is hallonlakritsskalle! There’s also chocolate, hints of coffee, brown sugar and dark fruit. Taste is initially raspberry sweet but this is soon dwarfed by coffee and chocolate bitterness that lingers pretty much forever. Body is medium and creamy. This one is not very balanced, unfortunately.

From notes: Labelled as "Limited Edition #8". Poured opaque black with a touch of purple in it and a small, thin tan head. Roasty, chocolatey aroma with some berry underneath. Full body, slightly thick. Roasty coffee flavor, with a mild note of tart berry underneath.

I'll admit it: I'm a sucker for fruit-infused stouts, so this tickled me anyway. 650ml bomber purchased from Ledger's Liquors in Berkeley, CA. Pours a deep black-brown, with good clarity at the edges, and with a certain sheen of red-pink in the hue. Head forms with frothy ebullience and settles down to a fine ring. Lacing is minor and patchy, but present, at least. Body is surprisingly light, but the carbonation is fine. Overall, it looks pretty good: at least as good as it should look. Nose is musty and dark, with a mild roasted character than nonetheless remains rather smooth and clean. Some leafy freshness comes through as well: perhaps a slight lift from being truly a straight, dark RIS, but no real raspberry character on the nose at least. The flavour is where this beer starts to shine: here the raspberry is pronounced, providing a bright, fruity counterpoint to the roast and dry darkness. This is certainly based on a Russian Imperial Stout, which is often darker, roastier and drier than the American style. But the raspberry provides that lightness, the sweetness and the character that stops it from being too intense. On the back, there's a lovely mingling of the charred roastiness and the fragrant berry. Feel is quite light: the dryness on the palate translates into quite a light, dry feel as well. However, given this is 9.3%, it's quite impressive how clean and light this feels. The booze is extremely well hidden. Overall, yeah, I'm a sucker. This is a decent (if dry) RIS, made interesting with raspberries and gaining balance and structure in the process. I think that the fruit addition to big stouts is always interesting, and in this case I think it helps a lot. I'm a fan. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 22 oz bottle. Pours an inky black with some purple tints, soft off-white head that clings to the edges of the glass. Aroma has hints of sour raspberries, a touch of bitter unsweetened chocolate. Flavor has some roasted notes with a touch of black potting soil. Bittersweet unsweetened chocolate permeates throughout with the raspberries making a brief appearance in the finish. Mouthfeel is thick and rich. Enjoyable and would make a good winter warmer.

Nose of fruit, dark chocolate, with touches of leather and vegetable. Pours an opaque black with a rapidly dissipating khaki head and abundant lacing. The taste is initially sweet and then fades to bitter. NICE! Fruit sweetness (hard to say raspberries per se???) bitter chocolate, coffee grounds with a touch of grain in the aftertaste. Medium to medium-light body and medium carbonation. Oveall, an interesting and nicely balanced beer. I wish it were richer in texture but I would drink it again.

On tap at MacGregor’s. Dark brown to black with a light brown head. Roasty aroma with some coffee, dark chocolate, a bit of raspberry notes and alcohol notes. Bittersweet roasty flavor with chocolate and some raspberry juice. Medium to full-bodied. Good stuff.

From 22oz bottle to shaker. Pours absolutely black with beige head. Smells like chocolate, raspberries, and oat. Nice thick imperial taste, however sweet berry-chocolate aftertaste, never expect any imperial beers to have any sweet properties. phenomenal beer

Aroma of chocolate, Raspberry and coffee. Pours a deep dark brown with a nice tan foamy head. Taste is very roasty , coffee like. The raspberry gets lost. A nice Stout.
