COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An extremely rich and complex beer. The addition of raspberries during the fermentation process results in an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. Warm chocolate and roasty notes compliment the hop bitterness.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter,it has a very dark brown color and light tan head. I get a good bit of raspberry on the nose, but itís not so overly sweet smelling or artificial, more natural really. The taste is pretty balanced between the roasty malt and hop bite, with the raspberry more on the back end in the form of a very slightly tangy raspberry flavor. Itís nowhere near as sweet as some of the reviews had let on,and I donít get the over abundance of raspberry either,itís nicely balanced and hides the alcohol content well in a very nice warming stout. Itís got a medium bodied mouth feel and average carbonation. I really enjoyed it and would buy it again.

Cirrhosis (1209) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 22, 2013
Standard looking stout, dark brown and one inch cap floating on top. To much raspberry in the flavour and aroma. Aroma is perfumy fake with chalky coffee....... seems to sweet. Yep first sip was way to sweet. Powdery dry feel, raspberry up front and a bitter coffee finish. Raspberry is that horrid fake kind. Pretty light feeling for an Imp. stout. No after taste at all. Hints of powdery backers chocolate. Coffeemate?!?!? Marks seem low but ya this isnít that good.

Bottled 13FEB12 Pours a black beer with a solid quilt of tan foam. Smells of leather, coffee, black malts, maybe when I really focus, some berry comes through - but I almost feel like Iím trying to convince myself. Flavor of burnt malts, dark, really dark chocolate, coffee and the slightest hint of raspberry (this time not convincing myself). Taste is overly bitter for what I would expect from a fruited beer. Medium bodied and moderately carbed with a semi dry finish. Overall, this beer does not strike as the beer advertised. A previous review mentioned possible pedigree to KGB, wouldnít suprised me as much as I disliked this beer, but it wasnít nearly as poor as KGB for me. I will argue they missed the mark on the berries, and the bitter characters were overplayed. Needed a little sweetness, berry flavor and body with a hint less carb. Serving type: bottle 04-20-2012

Bottled. Pours clear, dark deep brown with a small, lacing beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and notes of berries. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and bitter. Medium to full bodied, oily text. and soft carb. an excellent impy.

Poured from 22oz bottle, purple wax, cudos to the "pull tab" style of getting the wax off, pours black with a tan head with a little bit of lacing, aroma is pretty sweet with some chocolate and a good amount of the fruit coming through as well, the flavor has some fruit on the front end, really not a ton of the raspberry, the flavor is al little more hot than I was expecting, not terrible, must kind of meh.

Dark pour with tan head from a tap. Sweet malty taste with a bit of coffee. Good stout for the winter.

On tap at North River Tavern. Black pour with thick frothy tan head. Aroma of raspberries, roasted malts, and floral hops. Raspberries definitely come through on the palate. More of a raspberry liquor. Rich and medicinal. Roasted malts balance out the sweetness and the light hop bitterness. Full bodied and thick. Coats the throat with sweetness. Definitely a sipper.

Sampled at esbls. I bought it at Corral. Almost black with red. A blotchy tan head. Big roasted malts and dark fruit are smelled. So much fruit in the flavor. It is sour raspberries. Chocolate. Syrupy. Not a fan.

On tap at north river tavern. Dark opaque color. Mahogany brown with red highlights and frothy head. Molasses raspberry liquor alcohol aroma. Roasted malty and alcohol flavor along with raspberry cordial and molasses flow. Strong but smooth sweet and alcoholic. Medium body. I liked this to sip on occasionally.
