COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An extremely rich and complex beer. The addition of raspberries during the fermentation process results in an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. Warm chocolate and roasty notes compliment the hop bitterness.

Aroma of tomatoes, black coffee. Black body wth brown head. Not too bad, but a bit underwhelming.

Tap pour- @ RHP. Pours jet black with minimal tan head. Aromas of coffee, raspberry, chocolate malt, slight hop note. Taste is good and balanced, chocolate and raspberry fruit working well in tandem. Touch of coffee and roasted nuts. Long finish, very nice.

Bottle from Gator Beverage. Pours dark brown to black with one finger kahki head. Looks thin for the style, but maybe just me eyes playing tricks. Aroma is roasted grains, bit of chocolate, and what smells like rotted fruit. I got a similar aroma from Dark Horse Tres. Pretty thick mouthfeel. Roasted chocolate up front, followed by some radpberry, then finishes with lots of bittersweet chocolate. This is not nearly as offensive as Tres and the raspberry provides a subtle flavor that doesn’t linger too much. Medium carbonation and a pretty good beer. Expected this to be very sweet, but it is more bitter than sweet. Maybe feuit is better for a sweet stout. I still don’t think the fruit helps anything. This seems like an excellent base stout with no need for it.

Aroma is chocolate, dark malt, soy, a hint of tart raspberry. Appearance is imperial stout with a two finger cocoa head. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Imperial stout flavors first, chocolate and roasted malt. The raspberry appears mid palate, briefly, mostly skin and seeds, and fades quickly. The raspberry flavor is very natural and subtle. There’s no artificial raspberry blast. It’s very different and enjoyable. The finish, however, is astringent and dry. The middle was good, the ending left a little to be desired.

Bottle. Pours very dark, tan head. Smells very chocolatey, smokey. Tastes smokey, thick, chocolate, no sign of raspberries...extreme mocha finish. Really good though I cannot taste raspberries, that’s deceiving.

Pours dark with a tan head. Slight raspberry aroma. Don’t taste the raspberry much, a slight sweetness into the mouth. Tart with. Fair amount of bitterness on the swallow. Expected a bit more sweetness. Just OK. Doesn’t stand out for me. Don’t think I’d go out of my way for another.

Bottle, shared with Ian and Colin over a game of Power Grid. Very dark brown with a dense tan head. Aroma is cocoa powder and miso, no raspberries for me, not even through to the end. Very odd. Flavours of black malts, bitter chocolate, light soy, and just a hint of fruity sweetness. Very dusty dry finish. In a blind tasting I would not pull any raspberry out of this. Mouthfeel is on the thin side for an impy, and Im not crazy about that dusty finish.

Bottle @ Papsø. Pours clear dark brown with a creamy beige small head. Aroma is unripe raspberries, coffee, roasted malt, toffee chocolate. Taste medium sweet and bitter. Finishes roasted. Rather mild beer but I enjoyed the unexpected raspberry twist.
