COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An extremely rich and complex beer. The addition of raspberries during the fermentation process results in an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. Warm chocolate and roasty notes compliment the hop bitterness.

Poured from 22oz bottle, purple wax, cudos to the "pull tab" style of getting the wax off, pours black with a tan head with a little bit of lacing, aroma is pretty sweet with some chocolate and a good amount of the fruit coming through as well, the flavor has some fruit on the front end, really not a ton of the raspberry, the flavor is al little more hot than I was expecting, not terrible, must kind of meh.

Dark pour with tan head from a tap. Sweet malty taste with a bit of coffee. Good stout for the winter.

On tap at North River Tavern. Black pour with thick frothy tan head. Aroma of raspberries, roasted malts, and floral hops. Raspberries definitely come through on the palate. More of a raspberry liquor. Rich and medicinal. Roasted malts balance out the sweetness and the light hop bitterness. Full bodied and thick. Coats the throat with sweetness. Definitely a sipper.

Sampled at esbls. I bought it at Corral. Almost black with red. A blotchy tan head. Big roasted malts and dark fruit are smelled. So much fruit in the flavor. It is sour raspberries. Chocolate. Syrupy. Not a fan.

On tap at north river tavern. Dark opaque color. Mahogany brown with red highlights and frothy head. Molasses raspberry liquor alcohol aroma. Roasted malty and alcohol flavor along with raspberry cordial and molasses flow. Strong but smooth sweet and alcoholic. Medium body. I liked this to sip on occasionally.

Pours black with a brown head. Head fades away to some thin lacings. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee, and only a hint of fruit. Some bitterness from the raoseted malts with a black malt lingering in the finish. I can’t taste the raspberries at all, but this is still a very good beer otherwise. Hoping for more of that fruit though.

Countbeer (5139) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 23, 2013
Bottle: Thanks GothGargoyle: Vintage 2013: Served in a Chouffe glass: Brown to black pour. A medium sized vast and thick but live and quickly changing into an airy brown foamy head on top of a black colored beer. Aroma of roast, coffee, chocolate, malts roast, some raspberries, some corn, some oatmeal, tar, wood roast and hints of leave roast and liquorice. Flavours of coffee, bitters, roasted malts, roasted coffee, roasted wood, chocolate, some tar, cacoa, oat roast and nut roast. Deep, dark, bitter complex flavours. Aftertaste is bitter with coffee, chocolate and cacoa, some wood and malt roast and a hint of something porridge/branch a like. Low carbo, creamy light spicy/tingly mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. Expected more raspberries in the flavour, they should add more. But it’s a good dark roasted stout that get’s better, darker, more roasty and more bitter with a bit time and air!

Westmeister (2020) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 21, 2013
Bottle shared with Jeff. Pours black, but not quite thick. Medium dark tan head. Smell is dark fruit, maybe raspberry, chocolate is pretty big, dark roasted malts. Overall I found it to be a little thin, not much of the hops were left, and not very complex.

Sample at SBWF 2013. Black with a small tan head. Light notes of raspberries in the aroma, more in the taste. Also roasted malt, chocolate and licorice. The body was medium. The finish was dry. Quite good.
