An extremely rich and complex beer. The addition of raspberries during the fermentation process results in an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. Warm chocolate and roasty notes compliment the hop bitterness.

Bottle. Pours jet black, tanish head. Aroma is strong chocolate and coffee. Nothing really fruity. taste is mildly sweet, get more chocolate. Raspberry could be much stronger for me. If it didnt say it on the label, might not know its there, just a tad sweeter than normal.

Dark brown, almost black. Has a light brown head, medium duration. Roasted aroma, has some burnt notes too. Flavor starts sweet, coffee, raspberries? Perhaps, but I’m not sure. Roasted bread. Moderate bitter finish. Soft texture, nice.

Growler from New Beer Distributors. I am surprised the ABV was this high, because it seemed less like a RIS than a medium stout with some nice raspberry flavor. Berries are noticeable in the aroma, but not as much in the taste. It is fairly smooth, with light coffee and berry puree flavors. I do wonder if it has some flavorings added to it. Nice.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter,it has a very dark brown color and light tan head. I get a good bit of raspberry on the nose, but it’s not so overly sweet smelling or artificial, more natural really. The taste is pretty balanced between the roasty malt and hop bite, with the raspberry more on the back end in the form of a very slightly tangy raspberry flavor. It’s nowhere near as sweet as some of the reviews had let on,and I don’t get the over abundance of raspberry either,it’s nicely balanced and hides the alcohol content well in a very nice warming stout. It’s got a medium bodied mouth feel and average carbonation. I really enjoyed it and would buy it again.

Standard looking stout, dark brown and one inch cap floating on top. To much raspberry in the flavour and aroma. Aroma is perfumy fake with chalky coffee....... seems to sweet. Yep first sip was way to sweet. Powdery dry feel, raspberry up front and a bitter coffee finish. Raspberry is that horrid fake kind. Pretty light feeling for an Imp. stout. No after taste at all. Hints of powdery backers chocolate. Coffeemate?!?!? Marks seem low but ya this isn’t that good.

Bottled 13FEB12 Pours a black beer with a solid quilt of tan foam. Smells of leather, coffee, black malts, maybe when I really focus, some berry comes through - but I almost feel like I’m trying to convince myself. Flavor of burnt malts, dark, really dark chocolate, coffee and the slightest hint of raspberry (this time not convincing myself). Taste is overly bitter for what I would expect from a fruited beer. Medium bodied and moderately carbed with a semi dry finish. Overall, this beer does not strike as the beer advertised. A previous review mentioned possible pedigree to KGB, wouldn’t suprised me as much as I disliked this beer, but it wasn’t nearly as poor as KGB for me. I will argue they missed the mark on the berries, and the bitter characters were overplayed. Needed a little sweetness, berry flavor and body with a hint less carb. Serving type: bottle 04-20-2012

Bottle @ Cockney Pub beer tasting, 24th October 2013. Aroma: Lots of raspberry and sweet malt. Black with a creamy light brown head, which disappears. Flavour of raspberries, chocolate, alcohol, bitter malt. Coffee in the finish.

Bottled. Pours clear, dark deep brown with a small, lacing beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and notes of berries. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and bitter. Medium to full bodied, oily text. and soft carb. an excellent impy.
