COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An extremely rich and complex beer. The addition of raspberries during the fermentation process results in an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. Warm chocolate and roasty notes compliment the hop bitterness.

On tap @ Chuck’s. This isn’t going to be fair, because this was on tap at the same tIme as Parabola... at any rate, pours a deep black though notably thin in body which I’ve noticed wIth Widmer stouts before. No fruit aroma. Nice dark malts, but not as rich as you might hope. Smooth kinda sweet finish. The raspberry sounds like a great idea and obviously needs to be done in moderation, but this is barely perceptible.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2016 Vintage 2012. Dark fruits and roasted (or even burnt) malt in the aroma with a touch of tar and alcohol (a little bit). Soft, slightly sour taste with a touch of berries. Alcohol is well hidden. Burnt malt in a long dry aftertaste with some berries notes at the end. Good.

Aroma: dark roasted coffee and dark berries. Flavour: roasted malt with notes of coffee. Fruity sweetness and a slightly strange bitter aftertaste. Colour: very dark reddish brown with an offwhite head. From: mundus kaffe Jan. 2016 as Raspberry russian imperial stout ’13 limited edition no. 8.

Rated on 7-28-2015 (22 oz. bottle - Limited Edition No. 8) The appearance presents a medium sized light brown head that mostly diminished, opaque dark brown body, fast rising carbonation on the sides of the glass, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is roasted, malty, chocolate, caramel, and faint raspberry. The flavor is lightly bitter, roasted, chocolate, coffee, sweet, and malt. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. A quaffable beer, but the taste of it is not to my liking.

Bottle. Pours black with a medium brown head. Aromas of toffee, dark fruits, malt, raspberries, sweet licorice, perfume, roast. Taste is bitter roasty, bitter, sweet raspberries in the back, sweet licorice, dry chocolate. Actually pretty decent.

Tap @Olutexpo 2015. Very dark brown color. Medium size, brown head, stays. Looks nice. Sweet, roasted malts, very faint fruits in aroma. Alcohol, deep roast, chocolate and tiny bit of fruits in taste. Long lasting roasted malts and chocolate in aftertaste. You were bit cheap with raspberries. But maybe that’s a good thing? Didn’t ruin a good stout. Very easy to drink. Proper brew.

Very nice roast aroma, a fair bit of soy. Raspberry is present, but soft. Light palate, saying more like 6.5% than 9.3%, but still nicely full and stout. Great roast in the taste, nice level of burntness, no harshness. Finish roasty and feels a little dry, possibly aided by the raspberry, which barely pokes out at all as a flavour.

Draught @ OlutExpo 2015

Pours dark brown, almost black with a smooth head. Aroma of raspberry notes, roastiness, malts and syrup. Taste is sweetish, malty and roasty with some raspberry and syrup. Finish is sweetish, roasty and juicy raspberry with some syrupy notes. Okay.

650 ml. Dec. 13 vintage. Unclouded, opaque ebony with a purple tinge and a lasting thin cream on top. Smells of dark chocolate, caramel, blackberry and raspberry. Tastes of raspberry, chocolate, espresso, blackberries and cream. Almost seems to have some oak in the finish. Medium-heavy body has a smooth medium carbonation and a good balance.

En stor smag af stout som afrundes af en eftersmag af hindbær, heldigvis ikke for meget humle i den til det.

’13 Vintage. 22oz bottle bbDez2018 Limited Edition No. 8, shared post-workshop, courtesy of and many thanks to idiosynkrasie for including this. - Pours a very much thinner than expected opaque burgundy brown. Smells like a Schladerer Himbeergeist shot into a thin milk chocolate milk topped with roasted Oreos, a distinct touch of decongealed raspberry and wafting jenever alcohol. In taste the same literal translation of its ingredients and almost none of the promised & advertised richness and complexity. Instead a decent fresh West Coast hop character complements the artificial raspberry spirit where it has nothing to save. Metallic and thaw water character throughout. Overall not very convincing and a tad unnecessary. Was served after a sample glass, but this worked well in a rote Grütze ice cream float afterwards. - Thesis after having this and North Coast Stock Ale as "complex beers": US (West Coast US?) craft beer "complexity" is paratactical and cumulative (adjunct, ingredient, hop, input-driven), not Old World hypotactical (yeast, time, fermentation-driven).
