"A nice brown/porter looking brew that is just a tiny bit behind the really awesome spiced stouts if you will (ie-chocolate sombrero). Pecans are at once a nice touch and a deterrent, causing the flavor to be a touch too sweet. Chili and cinnamon and chocolate really comes out as the beer warms. Iíd get far more often if not so expensive."

Mahogany pour with a fading tan head. Chocolate and sugary aroma. Nutty flavor with a nice smooth flavor. Chiliís not evident in older bottle from 2012, but evident in fresh bottle. Decent, but not worth having again.

On draught during the 4th Annual Fire & Brimstone Festival at Hop & Vine. Deep brownish-hued black. Aroma is molasses, pecan, cinnamon, and sticky sweet caramel. Taste is similar, but it has a touch of chili heat. Sticky sweet finish.

Pours mahogany into a snifter. Tan head with little retention recedes to nothing. Pecan and cocoa aromas. Thick with dark caramel. Thin with dark caramel, pecan and cocoa upfront turning to a warming chili finish.

draft poured a dark brown with off white head. the aroma was of roasted malts and cocoa. medium bodied and full flavored. took me a few sips to figure this one out. cocoa nibs and chilies....you donít really feel the chilies in the mouthfeel but subtly in the belly afterwards nice and warming...do get some spice mix in it as well...possibly cinnamon. kind of shocked by this one. but very pleasantly surprised and this is pretty darn good.

Time to dust this one off, 22 oz bottled on August 8, 2012. Almost black with a small, thin tan head, fully diminishing. Aroma of hot peppers, cinnamon, chocolate, plenty of spices, light vanilla and light toasted/roasted malts. Similar flavor, spicy, nutty, woody, mildy sweet with light earthy bitterness. Medium body, the alcohol is hidden well. Soft to flat carbonation, still drinking pretty well, though.

22 oz. bottle shared by/with AirForceHops & his friend. Pours dark reddish brown with a small off white head. Aroma is cocoa, nuts and spice. Smooth as silk palate with notes of chocolate, pecans and just a little bit of heat. I was told the bottle was a couple of years old, so the heat from the chilies is probably more intense in a new bottle. None the less, very nice.

22 oz. bottle. Dark brown color thin tan head. The nose is malty with nuts, light spice. Flavor is really nice. Full body with the spice being real subtle in the finish. Big chocolate, cocoa nibs, cinnamon and light chili, very tasty.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/8/2012. Pours slightly hazy very dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, toast, light roast, chile pepper, clove, cinnamon, herbal, brown bread, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, cocoa, and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, toast, brown bread, light roast, clove, light chile, light nuttiness, light cinnamon, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Zero bitterness and minimal pepper heat on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, toast, light roast, brown bread, light nuttiness, light chile, light cinnamon, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of dark/bready malt flavors with moderate cocoa and light spice/chile notes; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy, smooth, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice spiced strong ale. Good balance and robustness of dark/bready malts, cocoa nib, and light spice/chile flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. Would have liked more spice presence in the taste, but they have obviously faded due to age. Still a very enjoyable offering overall.
