Using rich Mexican chocolate nibs, cinnamon, toasted pecans, and green chilies, this brew will feature decadent chocolate notes with a subtle spice character to pique the taste buds. A complex blend of traditional southwest flavors brought to you by way of the Northwest.

Deep brown, minimal head. Aroma is chocolate, nuts, slight chile notes. Taste is cocoa, roast, pecans...increasing chile burn, though mild. A little lackluster....good, but not great.

The presentation definitely outlives the beer itself. 55į reveals somewhat integrated mix of exactly what the bottle lists on the nose. Taste is almost like chili licorice cola, plenty of layers for the weight, obvious chili spice which I love in food, and can do without in my glass. Itís as unique as it is uncoordinated. Going to have to put on the trooper face to finish this one.

Smells amazing upon opening chocolates and brown sugar spices and booze, lovely. Not sure if I tasted heat, chili was more of hint. extra points for being creative in a tasty way.

Bottle. Earthy chocolate aroma, and a little chili as it warms. Chestnut with a small beige head. Pecan, chocolate, and very light chili flavor. No significant heat... maybe a hint of "warm". Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.

Bottle. And wow. Pours a near black with a moderate light tan head. The nose is nothing I would have ever expected from a beer. Youíre first hit with some rich chocolate notes that donít imply sweetness. There is some subtle spices that are under the chocolate, but the chocolate dominates (Iím having trouble not continually smelling this beer). Chocolate is quite muted in the taste. Taste actually does bring out a slight bit of heat from the chilies and some nuttiness. Very complex and surprisingly light.

Bottle. Perfumy vegetable and toffee malt aroma with a hint of pepper. Dark brown with small head. Chocolate, pecan malt flavor. Light pepper burn in the finish. Okay - flavors pretty subdued though.

Dark brown, nice sturdy tan head. Smells chocolatey and nutty, kinda like fudge. Taste is also chocolatey, with a surprising amount of pecan flavor. Cinnamon and pepper is in the background. Pretty tasty.

22 ounce bottle shared. As one in our group pointed out, the Brothers Widmer mustíve been high when they conceived this one. It has a snackshopís worth of ingredients. It works out really well, though. The aroma is pretty much all milky chocolate and maybe a touch of hot, spicy chile pepper. The appearance is pretty close to black, with a brown head. As noted, each of the components in the brewerís description were retained in the flavor profile of the final product. We could all pick up on the pecans, spice, cinnamon, chillies, and of course the largest player ends up being the chocolate. Palate was medium bodied, not too big despite all those heavy ingredients and the malty taste. Smooth, low carbonation. The higher-than-average abv is undetectable. Overall itís a real crowd pleaser and very approachable as a dessert beverage for people who may not normally like beer.

Bottled August 8, 2012.
Appearance: The body is a clear and deep mahogany with garnet hues, only a thin tan head appears on the pour, it quickly settles into a ring.
Aroma: The first thing to come to mind is sweet cocoa, but a sweet malty and nutty aroma backs it up. Chilies are noticed, but very subdued and the aroma is a bit weak on the whole.
Taste: Sweet malts and cocoa are blended together on the intro, the cocoa becomes stronger with slight powder flavors and hints of roasted flavors become prominent by the mid-taste while introducing nutty flavors with slight cinnamon. The finish hints at chilies, but only slightly and lingering is a slight cocoa flavor and slight heat from the chilies.
Palate: Thick and slightly syrupy, some sharp carbonation by the finish.
Overall: This is a pretty impressive beer, I really have no faults with it. I donít love this, but itís certainly worth trying out. The flavors blend into each other nicely, well done.
