COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our brewers added fresh whole vanilla beans to a few select barrels of our Barrel-Aged Brrrbon ’13, an imperial version of our Brrr Seasonal Ale aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, for this limited edition brew. The addition of vanilla beans heightens the vanilla character imparted by the barrels, and adds a delicious layer of complexity to the beer’s oak and caramel character, making for a smooth warmer perfect for the season.

MALTS: Pale, Caramel, Carapils, Dark Chocolate
HOPS: Alchemy, Simcoe, Cascade

Draft. Vanilla brown in color with a vanilla white head. Slightly cloying sweetness. Kinda a sweetness of sugary bomb. A touch of astringent wood tannins. Meh

On tap @ Brick’s Pub. Mild aroma with some bourbon and maybe a little vanilla. Taste is boozy, malty with caramel - hardly any vanilla. Vanilla more evident in retronasal. Expected more vanilla!

From bomber. Pours a murky brown/copper with just a touch of head. Very mild aroma hinting of vanilla and bourbon. The vanilla takes a commanding presence in the taste - well above any other flavor. If you are as big of a fan of vanilla as I am of chocolate, you'll love this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty amber color with nice off white head. Oak and vanilla aromas mask a malty base. Caramel malts, oak, and alcohol mix is satisfying yet not quite ecstasy.

on tap, pours a cloudy hazy plum color with a thin thick head that laces well. nice bold nose of oak and alcohol and malt. attack is a bit sweet, more like a barley wine. finish is a bit wet and muddy. still a good beer.

On tap at Capone’s. Poured a muddy/murky amberish-brown color with a small sized off white head. Bourbon, woody, vanilla, and some dark fruits. More bourbon than vanilla, although the vanilla was there.

650ml bottle into a shaker glass; served cool. Aroma: Cascade hops definitely stand out. A little bit fruity; jelly. Boozy heat. Appearance: Hazy, deep caramel body, with an exceptionally thin, white head. Not a lot of lacing. Taste: Caramel and toffee, moderate+ booze, just barely any vanilla. Palate: Medium+ body, slightly slick. Moderate carbonation, between soft and prickly. Finish is medium+ and finishes on booze and chocolate. Overall: Not a whole lot of vanilla. Not even a mild amount of vanilla. You have to search for the vanilla, which is kind of frustrating. Tasty stuff though!

Rusty red with a thin brown head. Aroma is all bourbon and vanilla, and taste is similarly heavy, and boozy. It’s kind of one-note, and could stand to be a bit smoother, with less biting tannin in the finish, but it’s still good. $11/22 first PDX NYE
