COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our brewers added fresh whole vanilla beans to a few select barrels of our Barrel-Aged Brrrbon í13, an imperial version of our Brrr Seasonal Ale aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels, for this limited edition brew. The addition of vanilla beans heightens the vanilla character imparted by the barrels, and adds a delicious layer of complexity to the beerís oak and caramel character, making for a smooth warmer perfect for the season.

MALTS: Pale, Caramel, Carapils, Dark Chocolate
HOPS: Alchemy, Simcoe, Cascade

Pours a beautiful clear chestnut with a fairly thick and rather fine-bubbled light tan head. Malty aroma has firm notes of bourbon-soaked wood and caramel, plus a tantalizing hint of vanilla. Oaky bourbon dominates the bold flavor while letting through hints of caramel, vanilla, chocolate and horehound. Firm, smooth texture has a good amount of fizz and leaves a woody, bourbony, slightly candy-bar finish. This will take the brrr out of chilly weather next time one of them winter storms pays a visit.

Tap at Valhalla.. Pour is a clear dark amber with a nice white fluffy head.. Not what I was expecting. Aroma is bourbon, oak, cherries. Taste is incredible.. very nice bourbon upfront with a smooth lingering vanilla bean finish. Some dark fruit and some sweetness. Soft light mouthfeel.. crisp. ABV is well hidden. Beautiful beer. Was very impressed with this one

Bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown with tan head. Both aroma and taste consist mainly of bourbon and vanilla. A bit oaky with a very smooth finish. I love this beer; itís expensive, but really good. Great for a special occasion or to just sit back, sip, and enjoy.

Wow. The bourbon is so upfront itís hard to believe it is not, well, bourbon. A nice hint of sweetness and earthy vanilla. Only got a taste but must come back for a full tap.

On draught at Baileyís Taproom. Clear brownish amber color. Aroma is citrus hops and bourbon. Taste is fresh vanilla bean, citrus and tropical hops, bourbon, and caramel. Hoppy and sweet are pretty balanced.

Rusty red with a thin brown head. Aroma is all bourbon and vanilla, and taste is similarly heavy, and boozy. Itís kind of one-note, and could stand to be a bit smoother, with less biting tannin in the finish, but itís still good. $11/22 first PDX NYE

Waxed bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours translucent dark copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon and heavy malt. Med + body. Flavor is a little alcohol, vanilla, roasty malt, bourbon, astringent wood. Strong and flavorful stuff. Finishes pretty much toward woody and dry. It is just a little "rough".

Tap @ Holiday Ale Fest 2012... Poured deep, red/amber with a thin head. Nose was quite oaky. Similar to regular Brrrbon with an added depth. I often find Brrrbon to be boring the oak and vanilla hear bring it up a peg. Did I say this one was oaky?

Holiday Ale Festival 2012 - Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head. Nice vanilla flavoring added to the Brrrrrbon. This was a tasty beer.

Bottle:   Deep reddish caramel, frothy tannish head, fairly nice lacing.   Soft caramel and bourbon notes.   Faint vanilla up front.   Husky maltiness up front, slight bourbon, a little astringent, with subtle notes of vanilla.   Not as smooth as I would have hoped for.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Feels green still, a bit hot, warming @ 10.7%.   Yeah, still green.   Soft bourbon, vanilla, with a touch of caramel, and rich breadiness.   Still, not as thick as I would have thought.   Green hops, pale bourbon, soft caramel, with a little breadiness on the finish.   Good, but green and a little rough.   Hopefully one of these years they figure out how to improve this beer...
