Glen Falconer was passionate about friends, familly, and great IPAs. So in tribute, we’ve created an IPA worth of this master brewer. Made with Falconer’s Flight hops from Hopunion, LLC, a blend named for Glen himself. The result is a bright, moderately bitter IPA with stonefruit aromas and a strong malt backbone. We think Glen would approved. Proceeds from the sale of Falconer’s Flight hops go to the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation, providing scholarships to professional and aspiring brewers. In addition, Widmer Brothers Brewing is making a donation to grant two additional scholarships. Learn more at www.glenfalconerfoundation.org. Prost! To true hop heads.

Bottle. Pours a rich dark gold with a high, large-grained, white head. Nose is citrus, gooseberry, and herbs. Stone fruit, toast, citrus, and more herbs -- rosemary -- on the tongue, with a crisp, lively feel to it. Finishes clean. Absolutely delicious.

10.28.2011 - Houston, TX On Tap Light but somehow suprisingly flavorful. Makes me want to try the others in the series!

Deep copper hued brew with a dense but light khaki head. Nose of grapefruit and caramel. There is also fresh cut wood. The taste is brown sugar coated grapefruit with some pine on the back end. There is also a little hint of smoke, especially in the finish. This is a pretty nice sticky slightly sweet IPA. I like it.

Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, orange zest and light grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, earthiness, grapefruit, light pine and light orange zest with a crisp dry lingering bitter finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a medium light-beige head with decent retention; leaves cobwebby lacework. Aroma is peachy, citrus powder drink, honeysuckle. Taste is bitter with sweet edges. Carbonation is average and the mouthfeel is sticky. Not bad. 3.7 seems to be my number lately!

Bottle from a trade with cbkschubert. Pours slightly hazy burnt orange color with off white head. Aromas of grapefruit rind with some breadiness. Slightly bitter grapefruit flavor with a touch of caramel sweetness. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks Craig.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Sierra Nevada Pint glass. The color is a clear copper-amber with a finger of foamy off-white head and some nice lacing left on the glass. The smell has some nice earthy hoppy aroma with some The taste is pretty hoppy at first with some earthy notes that hold a good sized bitterness that also a good sized malt presence as well. The hits with a taste of piney hops at the end and makes this comes back to the bitterness. The feel of this beer is medium bodied and has a nice drinkable feel to a beer that has a good amount of hops. It does have a smooth side and it make this beer surprising in how well this drinks.

Bottle. Nice looker, but I didn’t get much aroma out of it. The selling point is the hop variety, and these are fruity, or perhaps even candy like, without being sweet. Some fairly aggressive bitterness to this ale as well. I’m glad Widmer is trying new hops rather than the usual Cascade, Centennials, et. al., although I don’t love this IPA.

Tap at McGintey’s in Silver Spring. Pours a deeper amber with not much head. Nose is malty, earthy, poopy. Taste is very malty, nutty bitter, big grapefruit pith. Earthy, dirty, raw. Heavier mouthfeel. A little harsh. Nut shells, peanuts come across through nutty hoppiness. Not bad.

Nice amber color with a decent head. Not a lot of lacing. Mild citrusy aroma. Mildly bitter too. Sweet aftertaste and slick, oily finish. Pleasant but nothing noteworthy.
