COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
People sometimes describe the aromas and flavors of hoppy IPAs as “grapefruit.” Hell, why not use some then? Widmer’s brewing team used a simple IPA recipe and added a generous amount of dried grapefruit peel to the end of the boil. The aroma is a melody of citrus, with a slight spice undertone, accentuated by the use of Citra hops. The flavor is that of nice hop forward IPA with the bitterness of grapefruit.

Grapefruit additions to an IPA may seem superfluous, but the effect is deafening. Hazy orange-yellow. Straight, chalky bitter like a raw, underripe grapefruit. Okay malt contrast as well. A harsh take on IPA’s even if not the bitterest.

Another nice ipa from the Wider brothers. Nice citrus and grapefruit. Full bodied. More good stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I get like a piney hoppy aroma with this golden slightly hazy brew. Not much head. At first i get a piney fruity sweet taste followed bybitterness almost a dry flavor. The bitterness lingers. Its a medium light body that tastes better as the brew goes on. Since this brewery got rid of broken halo...this is nowhere near it but itll do.

On tap at the Flying Saucer in Little Rock, AR. Pours a crystal clear golden colored body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is bigger grapefruit peels with a medium pine resin. Light grassy notes with a lightly sweetened, biscuity malt backing. Touches of toast and a decent amount of fruit cocktail fruits. Flavor is similar. Grapefruit and citrus peels up front with a few fruit cocktail fruits, a light grass and a moderate pine resin, and a lightly sweetened biscuity malt backing. Finishes dry with a medium bitterness, some citrus sweetness, a light toast note, and a few resins. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-thin body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a solid IPA. A bit thin feeling, but well hopped and balanced with a light malt backing. Not bad.

Sample at Buckeye Beer Engine on 9/11/12. Clear gold pour with a thin off-white head. Malty aroma with light citrus and floral hops. Malty flavor with orange peel and floral hop character before a grapefruit finish.

Bottle. Widmer Bros. brews have been hit and miss with me, so I’m not sure about this one. Looks nice enough: light orange amber, decent white head, good retention. Aroma is lovely perfumey citrus rind with underlying sweet malts. Nice bold grapefruit hop flavour, nice balancing malts, solid bitter finish. This one’s a winner with me.

12oz bottle - pours gold with white head and spoty lacing. Nose is pine and caramel. Flavor adds more pine. Quite bitter with light sweetness. Dry finish. Faint citrus aftertaste. Medium body. Standard for style.

Bottle while hanging around Sedona apt. Pours orange w ith huge citrus nose, really pleasant. Tastes of super grapefruit, with some pine, resin, pepper, earth, ginger, and grass. Very refreshing brew

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine wine & Spirits - 12 oz bottle. Pours a sparkling medium copper with a sticky off-white head that leaves a decent film of lacing. Hoppy, resiny, aroma with some pine syrup notes and touch of cat urine. Flavor is full-bodied with some tangy spicy, nutty notes, a bit of syrupy maple-like essence with a back end of requisite grapefruit citrus notes. Mouthfeel is thick, sticky and rich. As goes the rest of this series - very solid.

Pours golden. Bitterness very evident - definitely notice the grapefruit. A bit more bitter and less floral than what I look for.
