COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
People sometimes describe the aromas and flavors of hoppy IPAs as “grapefruit.” Hell, why not use some then? Widmer’s brewing team used a simple IPA recipe and added a generous amount of dried grapefruit peel to the end of the boil. The aroma is a melody of citrus, with a slight spice undertone, accentuated by the use of Citra hops. The flavor is that of nice hop forward IPA with the bitterness of grapefruit.

We have been impressed with Widmer’s Rotator series of IPAs. This on is one of the favorites. Nice grapefruit tones thru out. Sorry to see this ’rotate’ out of the series but it will be back!

Nice, big grapefruit hop character. Very drinkable IPA, grapefruit character enhances hop bitterness. Will be back.

Big citrus hops, dank grapefruit. Some cracker malts. One of the biggest citrus aromas I have smelled outside the notorious IPA’s (Sculpin, Heady Topper, etc.). Taste follows the nose, dominated by tart citrus. The finish is bitter, but refreshing. Very little malt flavor and a great hop presence. Good carbonation with a light-medium body that drys, but refreshes the palate on each sip. I was very impressed by this beer. Fantastic citrus and hops make for a perfect summertime session beer.

Draught at Beer Authority, NYC. Golden beer with a nice white head, leaving nice lading in the glass. Pineapple aroma, peach, grapes, mango, pine needles, hay, fruit cocktail, citrus, dry grassy, pine, juniper berries. Hoppy peach flavor, pineapple, woody, citrus, grapefruit notes. Very refreshing and rather on the fruity side. Full bodied and with a pleasant hop, grass and peach finish. Fresh American IPA:s should be brewed in Sweden instead!!!

(12oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye dated May 9, 2012) clear medium gold, ring of fine white bubbles. Nose of sage, very dank, peppercorn, grapefruit peel. Taste is a little dank also, caramel, medium bitterness, medium oily body.

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Strong, sweet nose of grape and some citrus. Literally a bitter sweet arrival of the hops and sweet notes of the grape. Decent brew, but I find the mouth feel and this odd gap between the bitterness and the hops. Hard to explain.

Draft at Momo's. Clear golden pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma is sweet fruits, grapefruit, light pine, and underlying malts. Weird balance of flavors feature tropical fruit up front and a quick bitter finish. Medium light bodied. Could have been executed better.
