Truth in advertising for sure. I get some serious tea notes in the aroma. A melange of black and chamomile to me. There is a bunch of bitterness lurking underneath that initial tea. Then the spices pile on the wagon as well. Kind of wears out the palate though.

4/25/12. 12oz bottle. Clear golden pour with a small off-white head. Citrusy, spicy, aroma with plenty of hops. Slightly bready, grainy flavor with more hops and light spice. Nice, but I was hoping for more tea and spice.

Clear gold with a white head. Aroma hits with cardamom, lemon grass, fresh cut grass, lime zest. Flavor is spicy, lime, cardamom, pepper, yeast, grassy hops. Cool stuff!

Bottle, Tan color with a nice head that remains. Smells of spice, pepper and corriander. Hoppy and well balanced. Very nice drinkable and different IPA

Bottle from Caponeís. Pours clear straw colored with 1-finger frothy white head. Nose is citrus, hops, spices, with black pepper, mango, and pale malt. Tastes malty, with the spices hitting at mid-palate, and a medium finish. The tea seems to clash with the other spices a bit, and although this isnít bad and I give huge credit for originality, the ingredients seem to lose cohesiveness late.

Consolidated reviews of a whole bunch of 12oz bottles. Pours golden amber, whitish head. Aroma varies - some tea, some spices, some pepper, some hops. Taste is hops modified by some of the above. Finish is smooth. Very interesting beer, not among the normal IPA range and definitely tasty. One of the better spiced beers Iíve had, but just isnít my thing. Would probably be a good "crossover" beer.

Bottle from Malt and Vine. Pours light amber with a creamy/fluffy white head. Holy crap Batman. Thereís a lot going on with this aroma. And my brain has just decided it really smells like basil. Which I am very up on right now, cause Iím growing a lot of it. Or trying to. Damn bugs. Persistent inhaling reveals pepper and ginger aromas. Wow. Clarence should have opted for this instead of malmsey. Med body. Or better. Flavor is very spicy. I get the ginger, cardamom, pepper and maybe the anise. I canít distinguish the clove - except maybe for a little "burn". Damn but this is good stuff. Itís certainly bitter from hop, but the spice is just complexly over everything. I think you could marinate lamb in this and get a great result. Age this in white wine barrels and put it in 750s. And get the ABV up to 9 or 10. Good stuff here.

Nice bold golden color drawn from tap. Thin white head clears quickly, some lacing on the glass. Nose is floral and citrus - the taste is kind of a battle between hops and the spices from the tea. The winner of this battle is soap. Hop soap maybe? I don't feel like a winner. A good beer to try, but I'm going to have to man up to finish this pint. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice spices on the nose, tea, reminds me of vienna sausages. Color of a traditional IPA. Average head. Taste is fairly round. Do taste some of the tea in the flavor profile. Unique, and kind of slipped in there, unpungent if thatís a word. Definitely something different. Enjoyable, but probably not the beer for everyone. Enjoyability 4/5.
