3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very bright, aromatic, spicy and tea-like IPA. Tasted like a blend of IPA, saison, chai and yerba mate. Unfortunately, the spices completely overpower the malt flavors, though some bread and cracker notes did come through here and there. Hop flavors and aromas were difficult to separate from the spices, but I got some floral notes in the mix. Overall, it’s an immensely interesting beer. My only complaint is that the spices are too dominating. If they were dialed down just a bit, I would drink this beer more often. As it is now, my olfactories become spent after just one or two of these puppies, and then I have to move on to something else.

Tasted at NYC Craft Beer Festival. Complex aroma with rye, caraway, citrus, coriander, distant cinnamon. Dry spicy finish. Very nice, out of the box.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Growler filled at Olivers Beverage in Albany. Pours a lightly hazed golden amber with a moderate linen white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of citrus along with a bit of caramel. The flavor begins with malt and mild caramel and is quickly washed over by ample citrus pith bitterness. There is a strong flavor of anise that arises in the aftertaste and lingers for 10-15 seconds before finally subsiding. Medium bodied.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smells of fruits and citrus with some slight floral hops. Slightly dark amber color with no foam. Lots of fruit flavors with some nice citrus and a slight hop background. Interesting flavors of, aside from fruits and citrus, barley, oats, bread, roasted spices and slight leafy hops. Overall, a pretty decent IPA, a little too fruity for my taste. I’d give this a B rating.

2.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Hazy medium colored brew with a dense bright white head. The nose is rich with citrus, tea and hints of anise. The taste is bitter with hints of white sugar in the finish. There is also lots of anise and wood in the finish. Way too dry and spiced in the finish for me. Not nearly as good as the other Rotators I have tried.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from bottle. Aroma of ocean, pepper and bread. Clear gold, lively head. I taste pepper, banana, spice, hops (which blend very nicely), sweet malt. Crisp feel. Good stuff.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
~Peppery, earthy, flowery, spicy ginger, tea and light smoke in aroma.
~Pours clear gold color with lasting fluffy white head. Good lacing.
~Lot of spice also in flavor, reminds me of xmas. I get pine needles, ginger, black pepper and grapefruit balanced with a pretty sweet tasting malt.
~Med full bodied with med CO2, a bit chalky, lasting spicy finish.
~Very interesting brew. I enjoyed the mixture of spices. It is a bit cloying on the sweet side, but not too bad. Would only want to drink one of these before moving onto something else.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a golden color with a medium off white head that leaves lots of nice lacing on the glass.
The aroma is florally sweet with plenty of less-than-off-putting cooking spice and a big bunch of citrusy hops.
The flavor has a good bit of cooking spice, practically none of the spices listed above were what I detected, it seemed more like celery salt and cilantro to me, but I think the star anise is the one I couldn’t place which is very odd as you would think something as odd as anise would stick out like a sore thumb in an IPA, and it does... just I suppose I couldn’t put my finger on it last evening when I took the notes. Anyway the spice on hop mixture creates an odd astringency that doesn’t mix well with the moderately high level of bitterness in the beer. The hops are bright and brilliant and very fruit forward, specifically melony. The beer is ok, but this IPA seems like it would be pretty good without the spice.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A golden bier with a with white head. It has a little bit of an amber hue. It smells like pine needles American reminds me of Christmas. The flavor is sweet and danky and spicy like a bitter gingerbread cookie. The finish is a little sharp. At first you like it but then you don’t.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A healthy amber. This just has the most amazing spicy, floral nose I have ever encountered. Hints of sweet jasmine, zingy lemongrass an some peppery savoury notes. A fabulous progression of flavors and the bitterness of the hops and tea play off of one another dreamily. This is a really impressive brew.
