3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a nice golden orange. Aromas of clove, ginger, cinnamon, tea, hops and slight malt. Initial taste is smooth, and gets a nice spiciness from the ginger. The clove really comes out up front along with the tea leaves and cinnamon. There is a nice spicy bite from the ginger that just sits on your tongue. Interesting. Mouthfeel is nice. Smooth. Not too oily or sticky. Doesn’t much seem like an IPA...more like a pale in my opinion. A solid and different beer nonetheless. Worth trying.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear golden ale with a finger of white foam that leaves behind nice legs of lace. Smells nice - tropical, lemony with just a hint of "spice" - the tea is a nice addition. The flavor is more spicy than the nose with a certain mulled character and quite dry malt profile. The hops are a little over powered by the adjuncts and the flavor, although pleasant is ill balanced for the ingredients IMO. Medium on thin bodied with moderate carb. Semi dry finish. I think this is an interesting approach to an IPA. I think toning down the "spice" in the beer and adding just a hint of honey malt would certainly bring it together.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, nearly a gusher. Sneaked it in to the glass and still got a nice sandy dense head. Hazy dark orange/amber. Lots of floral spice. Dry and bitter. A bit too weird.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a medium fizzy white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, spice and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, peaches and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy and spicy aftertaste. Decent overall.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2/21/12 notes: bottle. Pours a light orange-gold, perfectly clear with a bit of a small white head. Aroma has strong notes of tropical fruit, lemon pith and subtle tangerine. Flavor is bright hops upfront, a bit of dried tea leaves, pretty subtle. Sweetens with some saltine cracker and finishes with a clean smack of bitterness. Fun stuff, though spicing could be more dramatic.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
From tap. Orange color, with 1 finger head that sticks around for a while. Floral nose (not strong). Hops very present, along with some spices (maybe a touch of nutmeg?) along with a bitter finish. Ok.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From bottle I forgot about ~1 year old and from memory. Foam spilled out as soon as I uncapped. Pours hazy copper with white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of malts and grains, floral hops, and chai tea. After slowly enjoying first sip I’m surprised how good it tastes. Starts malty grain followed by floral hop bitterness. The beer finishes with a chai tea that lingers on the palette. Spices I taste include ginger, clove, cardamom, chocolate, anise, and black tea. Very drinkable especially considering the age. Not really an IPA but still tasty.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. This erupted with foam, but quickly settled into a muted-orange, hazy beer. There’s a bit of an herbal aroma that hints at something a bit different. Indeed, this beer drinks with a broad spectrum of crazy flavors -- my palate not nearly enough to pull the right specifics. I still get a west-coast-like hoppiness lurking beneath, but it’s mingled in with Saison-reminiscent herbs and spice. Can’t say I really like it, but appreciate the artistry and decent balance. 3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle shared by ygtbsm94. Thanks Brad.
The beer appears clear and golden yellow hued with a lasting white head that leaves good lacing on the snifter. The aroma is quite unusual for sure, offering spices and cracked pepper atop a resinous hop bill. This recipe was well executed and fun to sample, but there is only so much spiced IPA I could enjoy in a session. Interesting and worth a try. A small serving is plenty.
